Ontario schools will revert to teaching the old sex-education curriculum

I'm not sure sex ed should be taught in school. Seems like something that parents should deal with since so much of it is related to individual morals and things touching on religion.

By all means, have the biology teacher explain the biological reproduction and dangers of STDs.....but the rest, who get's to decide what is moral or not. Leave that to individuals at home. If you don't like the religious folks whitewashing sex ed, the try to understand why they may feel uncomfortable with discussions of activities in schools that go against their beliefs and morals. Hell, picture there being a Muslim majority one day....want them to decide what sex ed is taught to everyone.....1 - girls are to be married off to highest bidder at age 14. 2 - If a woman is raped, it is her fault and she must be stoned to death.

Let's take all of the differing opinions out of it and just focus on the science of reproduction at school and let parents teach sexuality, the way they see fit, at home.

Thanks for typing all of that in for me Primo.

The biggest opponents here to ANY kind of "sex" education here in Ontario, was/is, not surprisingly, the Muslim community.

You are such an idiot. I hope you never have children. The purpose of education is to educate. If you want intolerance to flourish leave it to parents who have bigoted views to pass them down to their children. That's great.

The rolling back of the curriculum comes from a hatred for the gay community. Ford and the religious right wing have just begun to interfere in our bedrooms. You're idiots if you voted for him, sorry but it's true.

Never has a bigger pile of absolute bullshit been shat from a human mouth. But I guess as long as the bleeding heart liberals and social justice warriors of Ontario continue to perpetuate that lie, the easier it will be to justify their complete lack of understanding of what is appropriate for young children and what is not.

Just how the hell does preferring to have parents discuss sex with grade school children, "interfering in our bedrooms" ?

I voted for the Ont. conservative provincial party, who did you vote for, assuming you have the guts to reply ?

Sensing some hatred of the heterosexual community here.

I'm with Hooked! They rolled the curriculum to 1998 FFS.

My brother is a teacher and is by nature a small C Conservative and he agrees Doug and his loony right have it all wrong. Not one parent ever complained to him and he always informed parents the day before the topic of the class allowing them to keep their children at home and guess what, NONE DID!

So lets get this straight, you are stating that the curriculum way back in 1998, was wrong, regarding the science of reproduction ?

Didn't realise that making babies, has changed so much since then ?

Plus, we are to take the word of a TEACHER, hilarious.

Why not ask the people in the trenches?

Is that like when Harper brought in C36 and refused to speak with any sex-workers?

Eh, it seems the norm for Conservatives to ignore the people who actually do the job and listen to the cry of their religious base.

They should stick to economic policy and be progressive not trying to take us back to Ward and the Leave it to Beaver era.

Do you have young children in the school system today, Madman?

I would rather listen to parents who have children in grade schools, than uninformed teachers.

Just to educate you a little, teachers did NOT revise the curriculum, teachers did NOT hand out questionnaires to find out how parents felt about the subject, they do NOT have a clue as to how all parents feel about the subject.

And, non civil servant parents cannot take one of the many "sick days" off that teachers have, when they want to keep their kids out of school, so the idiotic notion that just because some parents did not take their kids out of school, does NOT equal agreement with the new curriculum, but is a good example of the intellect of Fiberal and Socialist Dipper voters.

And just what has Mr. Dress Up done to revise the content in bill C36, NOTHING, of coarse when your party leader is more interested in photo ops, than showing any real guts, what would one expect.

So you cannot discuss genders or homosexuals?.

Pretty much every kid in grade school, knows the difference between a female and a male.

But why would homosexuals need to be discussed in grade school ?

,..."So class, a homosexual male, is a male who has sex with other males, by sticking their penis in another homosexual males rectum,... any of you boys here have thoughts of doing that, as opposed to having sex with a female ?"
If you say yes, I will make sure nobody makes fun of you !

Did the "enlightened" curriculum include pedophilia, one would think that would be important to "educate" grade school children to, but I doubt the teachers have the guts to touch that area of sexuality.

The scary thing is not just the lack of education about the LGTBQ2 community but there were sections about sexting, cyber bullying, cyber predators, etc. Things that were not a reality 20 years when the internet was a baby.

EDIT : I just heard that parts of the above will be kept. I am so confused now.
