Disclaimer: I have ZERO tolerance for child molesters and child pornographers and they should be strung up/ drawn and quartered and made to suffer to the highest letter of the law and THEN SOME.
Having said this, I remember a story a few years back of a couple taking pics of their infant kids in the bathtub. No genitals were displayed, but the roll of film was then brought to one of those 1 hr photo places, (before digital photography...) and an over zealous employee called the police, and the couple was charged with the taking sexually explicit pics of a minor.
In that particular case, one might wanna exercise some leeway... wouldn't one think?
Clearly that wasn't the case in this instance:

The father should be jailed for a minimum of 20 years in my opinion. Possession with that amount of child porn is just as egregious as committing the act. Which I'm certain he has committed somewhere along the line. Jail terms for possession need to be substantially increased if not for anything else than to get these criminals out of society as long as possible. In my view pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated.

CG: I remember that case about the kids in the bathtub....that was just a LITTLE fucking ridiculous IMO. That case was the final straw in the realization that our legal system is full of idiots. Waste the court's time, and the parent's reputation over something like that yet here's someone who actually produced and distributed child porn and they get 2 yrs?

I concur..there is no way of curing these people...I remember when my neighbour whos is a forensic pyschologist had a pedophile as one of her clients. I encouraged her to shoot off his balls. She was shocked and said to me,....do you think he wants to be a pedophile? My quick answer was this: I dont care and the victims need to be protected. Then it made me realize that this pedophile cannot be cured unless he goes through some kind of rigid extensive hormone therapy where it zaps your urge to have any sexual feelings .

Because one cannot help who they are doesn't give them any special place in our society. I mean Hell, Charlie Manson couldn't help who he was, Hitler couldn't help who he was, and the list goes on. The thing about chemical castration is that it might stop them from actually getting a woody, but it won't stop them from searching out and obtaining child porn. Puja hardly looks like a fighter but beneath her smiling face is a steely resolve. She is the first girl in her family to go to school and is determined to finish it. Very few girls in her community have done that.
Puja's mother wasn't given that chance. Priya, now in her late 30s, was forced into prostitution when she was a young girl.
Stories like this are common in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan state in Western India, where girls are sold to brothels, once they hit puberty.
Locals mark this rite of passage with a coming of age ceremony called Nathni Utarna – which translates as taking off the nose ring - that signifies a girl is ready to be sent into the sex trade, that she's considered ready to sleep with her first client.
Plan India, a charity working in the village to wipe out the tradition, says these ceremonies were once common but now it's getting harder to find families to admit they held one.
Indian film star Anil Kapoor, as a patron of Plan India, said: "A lot of the rehabilitated women are ensuring that the girls from their families don't get thrown into the practice.
"It's a small step, but one in the right direction. Changing the mindset of the people in the village is key.
"Now that the women themselves are taking a stand against prostitution, I am hopeful, optimistic, we can end this tradition.
He took a CNN Freedom Project crew to the village in Bharatpur district where Puja showed us the progress.

its not "tradition"....thats a cop out and an lame excuse for these men to manipulate and control their daughters for the sole purpose of feeding their greed. This reminds me of slavery where people kept saying it was a tradition....blah blah blah...
