It’s not a matter of whether Toronto will one day get a red light district.
Toronto is a red light district. “We are, the City of Toronto, the biggest pimp in North America,” Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti declared Tuesday. Toronto provides licences for exotic dancers, massage therapists and to some body rub establishments and strip clubs. “And we hand out these licences without ever asking one question,” said the York West (Ward 7) councillor.

There’s big money in sex — and finally the city is starting to think about how to get in on the action while at the same time keeping a better eye on regulating the industry.

It just makes no sense for this to continue without the city capitalizing on the tax revenue from it, as well as to regulate it to make sure it’s a safe environment for those who work in it and those who visit,” said Mammoliti.

You want to see a red light district? Go to any strip mall in any neighbourhood and you will find a de facto brothel in the form of a massage parlour. Look in the back of any newspaper. Same goes for the Internet!

Go to many condo or apartment buildings and you’ll find bordellos operating openly. Some swingers clubs, saunas, strip clubs and escort services are also along for the multi-million-dollar ride.

Where?

Great, now the governments going to fuck this industry up too.:grrrrrr:

The guy is right. TO has many pockets of de facto red light districts.

Eglinton West

The Queensway

Finch West

Yonge

Sheppard East

Can't drive more than a few minutes without seeing a neon "SPA" sign these days.

The difference, which the author fails to mention (because that wouldn't support his story) is that this is NOT a red light district. Just one establishment does not a district make. Just like one house doesn't make a community.

He is in fact supporting the argument FOR red light districts by getting the incalls out of residential neighbourhoods and into an area that could be patrolled and monitored more easily......

Actually Phantom, you didn't post the whole article, shame on YOU......

Shame on who dude. Posting the whole article is too long. Don't you see the link to it. It's all I read.

Be cool.
