Arguably the Greatest Scientific Mind on the Planet Tackles Universal Question

"One can't prove that God doesn't exist," professor Stephen Hawking told ABC News. "But science makes God unnecessary."

"The laws of physics can explain the universe without the need for a creator," he added.

The Big Bang was caused by the interaction of 2 infinite 3-branes vibrating outside of our 3+1 space-time in 11 dimensional hyperspace which were drawn together by gravity, this is the basis of the Ekpyrotic Cosmological Model of the Universe and since the 3-branes were in fact infinite and can be described using the supersymmetrical mathematics of a non-associative generalization of Lie Algebra used in M-Theory no first cause is necessary for their existence thus no violation of causality occurs namely Newton's Third Law of Motion and the 1st Law of Thermodynamics. Something did not come from nothing it just always was.

Trying to prove God does or does not exist is obviously impossible. Plus, most scientists are atheists. So no surprise there.

Actually, I don't believe most scientists are atheist. People like Freemen Dyson have professed belief in a higher power, but most have a less rigid view of religion.

Atheism is fine, but I find people trying to shove it down my throat as annoying as getting preached at by bible-thumpers.

This way of thinking is just a high form of "My hockey team is better than yours.". Why not just accept that some people feel a deep spiritual connection and others do not? Celebrate the differences, don't denigrate.

Does that mean we don't have to put any money on that annoying basket anymore :slap:

String theory, singularities, quarks, multiple dimensions, are as untouchable to my simple mind and require as much faith in their existence as the *invisible man in the sky who will send me to hell for eternity if I don't follow his magic rules....but he loves me.

Had to read it twice but caught on. You are a cool guy.
