I’m not a girl, but I do know one or two. They’re wonderful people. Quite different from boys, and I don’t just mean physiologically. They have certain habits, quirks and traits that set them apart from menfolk. Heck, they even talk differently.
From that simple observation was born the Twitter account Sh-t Girls Say, which went live this past April. (Yes, even in 2011, we’re not allowed to print the s-word here. Apologies.) Like Sh-t My Dad Says before it, these simple, funny tweets – the brainchild of keen-eared Toronto comedians/filmmakers/writers Kyle Humphrey and Graydon Sheppard – have morphed into something bigger: namely, a massively popular viral video.
If you’re one of the few people who hasn’t seen this video yet, well, now’s the time! It’s really just a collection of tweets in video form, starring Sheppard in drag. (Oh, and a cameo from Juliette Lewis, one of several celebrity fans of the guys’ tweets.) But like any good observational comedy, what makes it funny is the ring of truth – it’s, well, stuff girls say.
“Could you not do that please?” “Oh, I had such a good sleep!” “First of all, ew.” Innocuous, mundane phrases that somehow seem to skew to the female end of the conversational spectrum. Bring on Episode 2!
