Made with Love

The Corona Virus.

But what you are again stating that YOU are correct, and the rest of the worlds countries are wrong to shut down ?

Where, please, did I suggest this?

You have yet to post your "data" on the death rate of Covid-19 compared the the seasonal flu, since you insist on stating that the seasonal flu has a higher death rate.

See above. Hope that helps you understand.

So you agree that most of the worlds countries shutting down,... is not panicking.

If so, in your opinion, who or what is panicking ?

Maybe people who have lost their jobs all ready, and small business owners bankrupt, the self employed, easy to tell those people not to panic.

I have already "googled" the death rate comparison %'s, and posted here.

Now you need to do the same,... and copy and past in a post here, the comparison in death rates %,... comparing the seasonal flu and Covid-19,...from your sources, and that are up to date, as this pandemic is evolving quickly.

I've heard from multiple people that are leaving delivered packages outside for 24 to 48 hours before bringing them in or spraying down the boxes with lysol before bringing them in.

I've just been opening shit, throwing the box in the trash then washing my hands. is it really necessary to be that extreme?

The virus can live about 24 hours on a cardboard surface (but most are gone in two hours), unless in a respiratory droplet, then it can live up to about two days (or until the moisture evaporates). What you're doing will kill any virus, and is not a bad process to be totally safe, but it is overkill in the vast, vast majority of cases. Personally, I open my Amazon and mail boxes, throw the box, then wash my hands. I don't bother with the Lysol, but that's a personal choice of risk tolerance.

The question is how much risk are you willing to take? If you have no underlying medical condition, and you're healthy, then there's less risk than if you have respiratory issues already, obviously.

This virus has killed more people then SARS and MERS combined! World wide.

Corona - 27, 254
SARS - 774
MERS - 858

For those who think this virus is no big deal, think again.

This is just the beginning of this virus and the numbers are already so high.

I hope everyone does the safe and responsible thing by staying indoor and self isolating.

Not trying to be argumentative, but you have to put this data in perspective. SARS and MERS were very regional, not world-wide. There was no asymptomatic spread. The fatality rate of MERS was much higher than we are seeing for Covid-19 (MERS was around 34% fatality, SARS was around 10% fatality, and covid-19 is, at most and depending on how you determine the numbers, 4% fatality, with actual numbers likely to be around 1% when you factor in the unreported cases).

I am not minimizing the problems with covid-19, but I do try to prevent misinformation.

Stay home if you can, and stay safe. The isolation the world is adopting is helping drop the spread of the virus significantly, already.

All correct,... and this is NOT the flu.

And the planet as a whole, the death numbers you quoted, is no were near the peak, which nobody even has a clue when that will occur.

The economy is in a downward spiral, with growing inertia, when it bottoms,... is unknown.
Make no mistake, crashed economies will have a devastating effect on the planets population long after Covid-19 has been brought under control.
Even with the handing out of checks for not working, does NOTHING to help the economy, if the world in in lock down.
This will be far worse than 2008, that was simply caused by governments not being responsible in their duties
This recession will have a 2nd monkey wrench thrown in,... a pandemic, that cannot be remedied by lowering the prime lending rate.
Plus,... too many people are just stupid.

I'm fine, with no need to panic, the same cannot be said of a huge and growing % of the globes population.

Agreed...the financial mess this will cause is not going to be easy to recover from. With two-thirds of Canadians worried about paying their rent, mortgage, car and other bills, deferring payments just moves the pressure to later in their lives, and interest (albeit relatively low) will be onerous.

Pushing people back to work early, like Trump seems to want to do, won't help with the containment of covid-19. And you know the only ones who comes out ahead in the end are the banks and other financial institutions; the average citizen gets screwed many times in the process.

This whole situation is a disaster. When will it end.

Best projection is a cure (as opposed to a vaccine) will be in mass production for release in 3-4 months. There is a cure (injection) in testing and mass production now, but producing huge amounts and getting clinical testing done is slow.

However, if the contagion slows down, we could be back to a better situation (working) in a month or two.

Thanks,...That's encouraging. 👍

EDIT: In layman's terms, what does "cure" mean ?

I just hope this makes people LEARN.

Learn to save, learn to look into multiple income streams, learn to do your taxes as an escort because you could Be getting that $2K a month for 4 months, learn to no live on credit, etc

There are so many things people need to learn from this but sadly, I don’t think enough will.
For one example, people who pay the minimum on their credit cards every month, are paying 21% interest to buy stuff they obviously CAN'T afford in the 1st place.

And don't get me started on lines of credit.

There are at least four drugs I am aware of in testing to give to those with covid-19 that would reduce or stop symptoms. Best case, the infection goes away, most probably case the infection reduces severity and people live.

Best guess as to when the "cure" would be available to the public ?

I understand the vaccine is still a least a year away.

Side note, seems that Italy may have peaked,... told you not to panic,... :)

If one of the drugs proves useful in the testing now underway it could be out in a month or two...depends on the number of doses needed, of course
