Most informed parties are aware that the CO2 produced by humans is only a very tiny % of the CO2 that is naturally produced by the planet itself. If humans actually stopped all industrial and domestic greenhouse gas production tomorrow, it would have a virtually negligible affect on the global climate and environmental ecosystem. There are literally hundreds of studies that have confirmed this. 'Real science' and everything! :wink2:

But eco-alarmists would have us all forsake modern technology and industrial mechanization to return an almost Amish-like existence. Yeah, that's gonna happen.:roll:


Best and most recent eco-irony? The new Tesla gigafactory being built in Australia to manufacture lithium ion batteries will ultimately produce more global toxic waste annually than it can ever possibly offset through the enablement of electric vehicle propulsion systems as an alternative to fossil-fuel based internal combustion engines.

But the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere is entirely accounted for by human activity according to real science. In fact we've produced 3 times more CO2 than has been added to the atmosphere because quite a lot is being absorbed the oceans.

Regardless of unnatural CO2 'build up' caused by humans, the earth is gradually compensating naturally for this build up and will eventually balance and offset the system. At present, only a little less than half the CO2 humans emit actually stays in the air, and this figure is in fact decreasing steadily. Time, when taken in context, does have meaning and relevance.

LOL yeah... right... actually that's a push... part of nature (though there are an awful lot of human). Plants fix carbon, and we burn it. No net loss or gain.

That would be wonderful if that was true, but its not... The CO2 levels are going up at a rather steady rate with some hint of a curvilinear progression. The CO2 that does not stay in the atmosphere is making the oceans more acidic which endangers the aquatic lifecycle, and there are simply not enough trees in the world, or suitable land to grow them on, to take out the excess CO2 we are producing. There are technological solutions such as "artificial trees" that remove CO2, but then they need a power source; such solutions might become a necessary stop gap method, but are not an optimal solution.

But seriously...I believe that technologies will come along that make all of this pointless. Someone will make a breakthrough in solar, wind, or some new green energy (maybe fission/fusion). Someone will make a breakthrough in energy storage. Someone will make a breakthrough in CO2 sequestration. Someone will make a breakthrough in something we haven't even thought of yet.

I don't get the argument by people that say that we have already passed the point of no return. After all, if that's true, why change anything we do as there is no hope. It reminds me of....

The miracle solution would be fusion but it's not practical yet. The problem is that unless we take the issue seriously, were not going to solve it. Dennying that's there is a problem gets in the way of a solution.

Soon there'll be no trees to plant, nor land mass to plant them on, as factory farming is one of, if not the largest cause of forest depletion. It is calculated that more than 50 billion animals, excluding fish/shell fish, they top the trillions, are killed yearly, so where would you put all those trees. Oh wait, I've just realized where they could be put......lol.
