[h=1]Star Exclusive: Tory MPP says party officials tied donations to labour legislation[/h]
[h=2]A Progressive Conservative MPP says he and his colleagues were told “explicitly” by senior party officials behind closed doors that pushing legislation to help a construction company would boost financial donations to the Tories.[/h]

In an email obtained by the Star, Randy Hillier warned his caucus mates last May that the party was “walking on thin ice” by sanctioning a Conservative private member’s bill that would release EllisDon from a closed-shop union agreement dating back to 1958.

This is why union members must never vote PC if they want to keep their jobs!!!!

The day of the big union is past
Here in the States the areas that are enjoying growth in business are in RIGHT TO WORK States.
That is a place where it is illegal to force anyone to join a union as a condition of employment.

Madman, c'mon after what the teacher and other public sector unions did to get around political donation laws (we are talking millions spent indirectly campaigning) the provincial Liberals elected in the last two elections you have the nerve to post this utter nonsense ? The Conservatives have much to lean from the unions and Liberals on how to circumvent political donation laws.

And BTW what are the unions so afraid of that they don't want the workers to have a choice? And why are the unions against public disclosure of their finances. You guys are making noises that you are completely scared shitless ( excuse my French) :Crying/:

Why isn't this thread in the political section?

I appreciate that union membership in the private is on a steep decline in North America ( declining more in the areas of free choice in the US than in Canada where workers do not have the same freedoms). In Canada private sector unionized employees now are significantly less than 20% whereas 73% of public sector employees are unionized. Can anyone say unlimited sick days ! 5 day paid leave for paper cuts :YMPARTY:Your headline is hilarious as no one is greedier than a public sector union boss operating with zero disclosure.

I'm sure I've had a few Tory fingers stuck in my cookie jar before.

I'm in the mushy middle and I can see both sides of the argument. The problem is Unions are only looking after the best interest of their members and CEO's are only looking after the best interest of their share hold. I think somewhere in the middle is the answer.

(Firstly it was advertisements and recommendations of which party serves our interest, it was not direct money into the parties coffers beside allowed donations. If Ellis Don would like to take out ads encouraging the public to vote for their puppet (Hudak) nobody can stop them.)

If a teacher calls in sick she is harrassed for doing so. Maybe you should speak to some teachers and principles before you make statments that are not true but only serve to wrongly fuel the public) Your headline is hilarious as no one is greedier than a public sector union boss operating with zero disclosure.

Unions have meetings which all members are strongly advised to attend. At these meetings everything is discussed and there are votes held on a regular basis. It is up to each and every member to be active within his or her union. The right to work law is strictly designed to cripple unions and empower the 1%. Of course most would bow out if they can save the $50.00 a month and still enjoy the gains made by their brother and sisters.

Your team (Conservatives) insist and want to privatize the LCBO, why it's making money? IS it because they have friends waiting to scoop up the profitable business?? Why does the public care how much an LCBO worker makes when it's profitable and not a dime is coming out of the tax payer. I'll tell you why it's envy, pure and simple. How dare anyone make a living wage? How dare anyone have a few benefits I wish I had? Yet owners can write off dinners with friends and family, claim they make $50000.00 on paper when the actually make triple this amount.

The country clubs are busy with CEO's and their com padres, while their minions are making money for the company.

Oil companies and Insurance companies are non union and private, how's that working for you?

PAPA, I need a coffee QUICK and get the doc in to check my blood pressure!!!!

That is in the US and it was a basis to institute it in 2011. Thankfully we are in Canada. A union member can ask to have his dues directed to charity but rarely happens as most see the benefit of being under the protection a union gives it's members.

are you saying that is a member directs his or her dues to charity the union will disavow them.
They would refuse representation even though the dues are being paid but directed away from the pockets of the modern day Jimmy Hoffa's.
