Tornado updates.

And yet another reminder not to trust the news EVER!!

Ontario dumped with snow:

At least they got the 2nd part right though: storm more Snobigdeal than Snowtorious B.I.G

wow for 2 days all i heard is the storm is coming the storm is coming big huge blizzard blah blah blah...u'd think the ttc woulda heard the news 2...this morning 10 AM, (snowstorm was done last nite) I catch the streetcar on major busy route into Union Station ..nothing shoveled, Spadina & King same thing stops fulla snow, I dont get it.

Well, using a movie as an example of a phenomena might seem lame to you, but since we don't have any historical video evidence to show what could happen, it's all we've got.

I suppose you also think that "life after people" is lame too?

Anyhow, there is also concrete evidence that what we're doing is accelerating the process and in fact, the smog and airborne particulate is actually slowing the warming process from the sun.

Anyone with an I Q over 75 realizes that by cutting down all the mechanisms for cleaning our air, and introducing 10 fold more pollutants can't be a good thing. Or are you going to try and tell me the brown haze of smog over every city is a natural occurance?

I tell you what primo, we'll do a little experiment shall we? We'll go to home depot, buy 50 house plants and put them in your garage with a lawn chair. We'll close the door and have you sit in that lawnchair for an hour. We'll test your heartrate.

Then we'll pull out all the plants and put in a smart car. We'll start the smart car, close the door and have you sit in the lawnchair for an hour. We'll then test your heart rate (if you have one).

I'm free this saturday so you can prove your point that what we're doing has no effect on our environment.

I just checked the rescu cams again and if nothing else, the brouhaha over the storm has the highways nice and clear. I haven't seen this little traffic on the highways at this time of day since the 60's......

If you have to go anywhere in the GTA I'd say now is the time lol.....

The planet is fine and will be fine. It was fine before humans evolved and it'll be fine after we're gone. Suggesting a Movie as an example of shifiting climate zones is kinda funny. Especially since the movie was kind of lame.

The climate of the earth is always changing...there's a great deal of evidence that our current changes have more to do with the output of the sun than anything "we" are doing to it with our SUVs. I don't know how anyone can listen to climatologists anyway, they can't predict the weather 24 hours out with much accuracy.

Weathermen are the only "professionals" who can be wrong most of the time and still keep their jobs!

BTW, I live in the states and had to deal with an inch or so of ice on everything. I'll take a foot of snow over this slippery icy crap any day.

Stay warm all.
^^^^ this man speaketh the troof

Tboy you're going over board on wanting poor working stiffs fired and now you're going over the top and suggesting someone should commit suicide over climate change. You critize my anolagy and for fuck sakes you use a science fiction movie as an example of science. DUDE you're warped!!

It's winter, we get snow and it gets cold. WTF does it have to do with climate change???

PS. Don't worry I won't stop chit chatting with you like your FB buddy, I enjoy the banter, especially when I know you are wrong and I am right!!:slap:

You're forgetting one thing, tboy. Earth's oceans and even cows FFS put out much more CO2's than all manmade exhaust systems combined
(thats including cars, factories, ships...etc).

Fossil fuels only account for less than 3% of all CO2's

Did I say it was only exhaust systems? Where did I say that? I specifically said "pollutants" and that does include cows, industry, exhaust etc.

As for chunky: I never said anyone should commit suicide, Primo said what we're doing isn't contributing to the current global situation. I said prove it. If what we're doing isn't contributing then it won't harm him would it?

So thank you for proving/agreeing with my point, that's mighty white of you!

Anyone who thinks that our current practices aren't affecting the planet is just in denial. I mean, how stupid do you have to be to admit that running a car in a garage for an hour is harmful, but running a billion cars outside for an hour isn't? Does the exhaust just magically vanish? Does it magically become NON toxic?

As for cows vs cars as polluters: last time I was in Toronto I didn't see many cows roaming the streets but I sure as hell saw the brown air surrounding the city......

Were I am I there so much snow coming down I can only see across the street. Plus the wind is picking up. I Love It.

If you had half a brain you'd realize that it isn't whether we get snow or not, it is how much, when, and where it gets dumped. Historically, over the past few years, we've been getting less and less accumulation. That is climate change. DOH

Speaking of which, fat people eat more beef which means more cows have to be raised which means more pollutants. So, fat boy, stop eating so much so you can stop contributing to climate change.

And yeah, my bad for wanting someone who puts lives at risk to lose their job...MY bad......shame on me......DOH

Err, I'm not going to bother asking for sources, but the issue ls less net output and more surplus accumulation since the dawn of the industrial era (1750 or so). That goes for Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, and CFC-12. During the current geological epoch the PPM for all of these thing were flat, and they all took off with the industrial revolution and modern farming. The numbers ATM have gotten to levels usually associated with some fairly cataclysmic natural event in the absence of such an event. Given the current levels of these and many other human pollutants, and the human triggered collapse in biodiversity, at this point any major planetary natural event would would quickly turn into an extinction level event even ignoring the consequences of climate change. (Basically, we're living dangerously.)

As for the storm, the Northern Boy in me was underwhelmed. I called it yesterday, "Watch this, it will mostly go around us like every other storm this winter." I had no special insight here... I just got lucky. Though the wind was howling and the snow was coming pretty good for a while last night.

Name calling again. That's cool because you like to assume you know it all and again you are WRONG, I'm not a fat guy. Just once please get it right, just once!

You do know what they say about ASS-U-ME?

what TOM said....

Now couple that with our practice of removing the very things (plant life) that clean our air and the effect is even more pronounced.

I read that it takes something like 20 trees a year to remove the CO one person produces in a day.....(just by breathing) so if we increase the population by 1, and cut down 100 trees, the net result is that we're removing the planet's ability to clean the air and increasing the load 1000 fold......

You don't have to be a scientist to realize that sooner or later, it's all going to catch up to us.

Here's a less lethal experiment:
Go to home depot and get a $3.00 5 gallon bucket
Fill the bucket half way with water.
Every time you have to take a piss, pee in the bucket
Every time you have to piss, take a glass of water from the bucket.
After a week drink the glass from the bucket. it will be about 90% urine.

Oh my bad, for assuming that a guy who named himself chunky, isn't...

But more importantly: stop eating beef and stop polluting the planet

As for getting it right, once. Kind of looks like I did since those TTC drivers did in fact lose their jobs......DOH

You got me there I do love my meat and I do enjoy letting them rip but there you go again GOING ovecommunity thinking that my farting leads to climate change!!

No, there YOU go, I never once said letting one go contributes to climate change, eating beef does......or are you going all cleopatra on that too?

BTW: I thought you said you were going to put me on ignore????

OK I can see you have a reading comprehension problem. Let me show you what I said.

I enjoy the banter. I look forward to logging on and reading your dribble. It's like turning on the TV and seeing Premier Dad making a speech. He annoys the living shit out of me but I stay tuned on the channel, I'm a little fucked up that way. I also can't stand Benny Hinn or Oral Roberts and I still leave the channel on for a couple of minutes just to see what the 2 dummies are rambling on about.

Don't worry I will never put you on ignore as long as you keep me entertained.

It actually does become non-toxic when trees absorb the CO2's and turn it into oxygen

LOL...they make a shitload of money by scaring the masses into coughing up their cash.
Donate lotsa money or you go to hell, its surprisingly effective.

Very similar to how Al Gore makes his carbon credit money.
Scare the populace enough by telling them the planet is doomed, and they will literally give you the shirt off their back(s) :)
