Anyone seen this or know who set it up?

I'm curious. Is it a concerned hobbyist advocacy group whose mission it is to protect our hard-earned dollars, or a cynical advertising ploy by some agencies to imply that their competitors are less trustworthy or dependable?

Maybe they're trying to get agencies to pay to "join" (ie advertise). Or maybe those 4 are the site owners and they're purposely excluding other agencies. That's what I'm curious to know - who's the site really meant for? Hobbyists or agencies?

At first I thought that maybe it was brand new, and would be updated often etc. but a quick search reveals the site has been registered for almost 3 years! LOL :roll:

It appears the registrant company "Domains By Proxy" (in Scottsdale, Arizona) specializes in keeping the true identity of the registrant private.

It turns out that this is a "sister company" owned by GoDaddy...

Go Daddy founder Bob Parsons has set up Domains By Proxy Inc, essentially a Go Daddy reseller that will enter its own contact information, rather than the registrant's, into the Whois database, whenever a registration is made.
The idea is to offer people who wish to publish anonymously online a means to do so without having their home address, email address and telephone number available publicly. The service would be useful equally to people concerned about spam as those that have personal reasons for not connecting their real life with their web site.
"Go Daddy is not withholding registrant information," Parsons told ComputerWire. "Domains By Proxy is purchasing the domain, then giving the customer the full benefits of ownership."

I agree with Tboy (wait, what?). Overall it seems like an abandoned project. My initial thought was scam, but it might just be neglect.

Doesn't seem likely to be a scam; somebody legitimately trying to list reputable agencies would surely include Select and Mirage, and for that reason they wouldn't want to be involved in a scam. I know less about Vixens, but haven't heard anything bad, and while TAG's rep seems a little more mixed, there's enough pro-TAG sentiment for me to easily believe someone could think they legitemately deserved to be on the list. I also lean toward the abandoned amateur project theory, even if it does mean I'm agreeing with tboy.

Good analysis but I tend to disagree. For Vixens, I can vouch and cannot go wrong with them. Steph is a gem. Mirage and Select, we all know their reputation is top notch.

What I don't get is how Tag fits into this scheme. Doc, not sure where you get the "enough pro-Tag sentiment" line. If I were to build that site and included TAG in it I would lose all credibility. Need I say more about Tag?.

God knows, what "yours truly" knows about escort agencies would fit into one small paragraph, (although I HAVE read that the "asian agencies" are notorious for B & S), I was merely commenting on the fact that the site has (apparently) been in existence for almost 3 years, but has only 4 agencies listed, and NO independents. Seems a little strange to me, hence the "bogus" accusation.

And by bogus, I mean not genuine.
