Heads-up: there's nothing even slightly erotic or teasing about this place!
I wandered up Yonge after visiting my favorite massage place and being told to "come back in half hour", which really means "an hour or more", and looking for a decent massage plus extras I wandered up to Dundas, then through Chinatown. With the weather really crappy yesterday, I found one place that advertised Tuina just off the north corner of Bay and Dundas. It looked clean, and, somewhat tired from wandering several kilometers in thick snow with uncomfortable boots, I walked in. A cute young Chinese lady at the desk asked if I wanted a massage (I always wonder what people say to such silly questions), and then she mentioned she "was available". Tired and in need of a bit of a rest, I agreed, assuming we'd walk through to a room in the back. Wrong-o! The massages are done on three massage tables separated by hospital curtains on celing tracks, just drawn enough to hide one table from the next. At this point, I knew any thought of extras was a waste of time, resigned myself to that fact (the alternative was another long trek through the snow to another place I know), and got undressed down to underwear.
The lady put a sheet and heating blanket on top of me, and proceeded to pound the living hell out of every inch of my neck, back, shoulders, arms and legs. Not a bit of oil or other liquid, just a straight deep-down Chinese-style Tuina pounding, alternating between "oooh that feel good" and "holy hell what are you doing to me". An hour later, after feeling as though I had been through a washing machine, I hopped up and found myself surprisingly agile and less tense, knowing that sort of massage often feels bad the day of, but much better the next couple of days. Not much had been said during the pounding except "this hurts" ("YEAH!") and "you ok" ("yeah"), and I spent half the time listening to the lady in the next cubicle moan and groan in pain.
So, if you want a really decent Tuina massage with absolutely nothing erotic, this is a pretty decent place to go. For $85, I got an RMT receipt and a lot of the tension in my muscles pounded out. The masseur was very cute, and I wish there was more on offer, but...
