It's Sunday morning and I just came back from a morning jog around the neighbourhood. For the last little while, I have been working on adapting a more healthy lifestyle and exercising, especially jogging and 45 min cardio at the gym on the treadmill on a more regular basis. Especially now that I have hit the big 40, and I see many of my peers facing the same issue.

I have a personal goal of losing 15 lbs. It's not been easy, especially when you have a desk job and an irregular work schedule like I have, but I do try. So far I am down 6 lbs with 9 lbs to go, but I notice that historically it has been like a rollercoaster. I have been up 5 lbs, 10 lbs, then down 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 15 lbs, but never stable. It always fluxuates. A good friend of mine recommended having a balanced breakfast every morning and eating my meals at a regular times, which is something I have failed to do in the past, but will make a more conscious effort of doing.

So for breakfast this morning I had the following

2 poached eggs
1 thin slice of ham
1 slice of brown toast
a small fruit bowl
a small glass of milk

KR, I too am looking to lose 15-20lbs, It's been a week and 3lbs are gone. A complete change in diet.

Puffed wheat, 1% milk, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries and water to drink.

holy crap knight, you want to LOSE weight? you just ate more for breakfast that I'll probably eat all day!

For me, I had 2 pieces of toast with no fat, hi amino acid margarine......oh yeah, the toast isn't any of that wonder manufactured bread shit, this comes from a local bakery and has zero preservatives, etc....it is totally different structure than that premanufactured shit......

Oh I forgot, I have a prune every morning as well.

Recently found out that I'm type 2 diabetic, it runs in my family for generations. Hence, the dietary change most of which is cutting out white starch, measuring portions, chicken, fish, salads, vegetables, whole grains. If I want soda, it must be diet and diet rootbeer is the best choice. I'm not a big drinker-nor do I drink often.

Remember, 1/2 of your plate should be green and other vegetables, 1/4 fish, meat or poultry, 1/4 whole grains (avoid if you can and limit red meat)

Bosco has provided a great deal of excellent information on dieting.

6 pieces of Salmon Sushi (salmon, rice, seaweed, and red pepper paste)
6 pieces of broccoli (no dip/sauce)
400ml of Pineapple juice

I try to make my meals decrease in heartiness as the day goes by. (Steak in the morning, a salad at night)

Working out in the morning, eating a good/large breakfast then eating less and less as the day goes by (3 meals and 2 snacks in total per day, with calorie intake limited at 2000),
helps increase you're metabolism if you keep at it.
It's hard at first, since your stomach is used to receiving more amounts of food as the day goes by, but after a couple weeks, there shouldn't be any issues.

Lost at least 1lbs each week using this method from 4 weeks ago. :good:

Approx 1/4 cup Bran Buds psyllium high fibre cereal mixed with low fat yogurt and topped with blueberries. Actually tastes pretty good and takes about 30 seconds to prepare.

At the moment I don't really worry about cholesteral as my LDH (the bad) numbers are well below 2 ( normal is 3) and my HDH (the good) are above the normal 1 reading. I have 2 eggs 3 times a week but usually with no meat or sometimes turkey bacon.

I understand what you are saying tboy. I eat the heaviest in the morning when the body metabolism is at its highest and then much lighter meals during the day and it seems to work for me, as my weight has been going down. Also, I have cut down significantly on carbs and also pop/juice/etc. It's amazing how much sugar is in one can.

A small bowl of raisin bran. Some mornings when I know my day is gonna be a tough hectic one, I'll have an egg, slice of toast and fresh fruit.

I've only ever had bacon on my club sandwiches at restaurants, but last week I cooked some on my griddle for a friend. OMFG how do any of you eat it after having cooked it yourselves?? A week later I STILL feel like there is a coating of grease on the counter.

I love the MacDonald breakfast. It's poison but one a week my body can take it.

.

Awesome.

I had a grande coffe with one sweetener and one large dollop of cream. I was still stuffed from last nights humongous dinner at a friends house. But by noon I was staaaaaaarved, so I ate leftover pizza. I need a good dinner.

cereal...with almond milk, cut up strawberries and banana and blueberries
