I love tipping, especially to people who aren't expecting it.

Got my hair cut by a new hairdresser yesterday (my old one moved away :Crying/, had my eyes closed most of the time and didn't really pay attention when she was done. Gave her a big tip because she probably only makes minimum wage.

Walked home, looked in the mirror - WTF??!! :SayWhat?:

My bangs were so uneven, it looked like I'd let a child have a go at cutting my hair! :don'twantto-see:/

I guess the sizeable tip might ensure better service next time if I decide to give her another chance.

The coolest tip I ever got to give was when I was traveling up in the Yukon on a hot summer day. I came upon a stretch of road construction, and the flag guy walked back to my car to tell me it'd be a long wait, which it was. I always feel sorry for road crews working in the hot sun, so thought of something fun to make the flag guy happy.

When traffic finally started moving, I handed him a $20 bill and suggested he go for a beer after work. His face lit up and I saw him talking into his walkie talkie as I drove away.

As I approached the end of the construction zone, I could see the flag guy on this end looking at each car as they passed by, and when he saw me, he gave me a huge smile and a big thumbs up, and told me his buddy had invited him out for a beer!

Exception is SP's - a flat $20 if the service is good for a 60 min appt.
