Green bananas aside:

The reality is that GMO technologies have given us many useful products, from human insulin to safer crops grown with fewer pesticides. Moreover, in over 30 years of experience, according to authoritative sources such as the U.S. National Academies and the American Medical Association, there is not one documented case of harm to humans, animals or the environment from GM products. That is an impressive track record, considering the extent of GM products in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food and industrial applications.
So why are so many still fearful of this technology? One simple answer is junk science, and its carefully crafted use as a weapon of mass fear.

People are afraid of the unknown/change and it's a perfect opportunity for someone to come along , scream FIRE and make some money in the process or at the very least receive 15 minutes of fame.

Hand him a tool to make money on and he will.

Ditto.

I will say that genetically modified foods are not as tasty as farm fresh.
Be it meat, veggie or fruit just not as good.

As long as it's not genetically made ORGASMS, I don't care!:biggrin2:

Umm papa, you do realize that genetically modified fruit and veggies are still grown on a farm. Do you also realize that something can be from genetically modified seed and still be organically grown ? In fact it is usually easier to organically grow items that are resistant to various crop deseases and do not require fertilizer other than manure.

Vitually all corn has now been genetically modified.

I'm pretty sure half of what you eat has already been modified a long time ago and you don't even know it. It started with grain crops.

The point of the article is after 30 years there is not one bit of scientific evidence from anywhere which suggests anything is harmful. There have been plenty of studies independent of the companies that have been modifying seed stock to develop hybrids which are desease resistant or grow faster (a real benefit in Canada with our shorter growing season). You can choose to believe all the univesity and government studies or you can choose to believe the National Enquirer, that's up to you but in the meantime you are eating the results of this work everyday without even knowing it.

Everything we eat is genetically modified. So are we. It's a new thing called "evolution".

Oh I m pretty quite sure that I am eating about 90% of GMO food indirectly or directly. Yet it doesnt stop me from being afraid or concerned.

Your facts are getting in the way of his ignorance.

That's a problem with quite a few people...

They don't seem to realize that the advancements made in agricultural science mean they eat better than ever before. With less bug parts in their food. :Thatwas-bad:
