I don't feel the need to have a separate section for politics or sports those topics can be discussed in a general forum. The minute you start a political forum the mods jobs get 50% tougher. Insults, nastiness, hurt feelings and general stupidity reign.

Too many forums can hurt the Search engine ranking of the site. Too many forums can also decrease participation in discussions especially when they're not pertinent to the main topic or purpose of the forum.

CAFReiviews Sex News section has important topics. Participation in Sex News discussions would be much higher if the forum was a part of General Discussion.

On PERB you see Special Events, Directors, ect with little to no posts. All of those forums could be incorporated into the Lobby.

I guess once a need arises the Mods would add one.
As I recall at one point we may have had a political section and it withered on the vine.

A few years ago, maybe. Admin could easily add tagging add-on's that would allow users to sort by tag. Finding the content would be as a simple as clicking a tag for special event posts, etc...
