Woman says she felt fat-shamed at Islands of Adventure ride

I used to married. She was down to 150 lbs when we got married, we used to go to the gym together. She liked to bake. We used to go to amuzement parks, all over North America. Loved fast rollercoasters.
In 2 yrs, she hit 180. By 12 yrs married, she hit 250, and couldn’t fit on the rides at the CNE, the safety bar wouldn’t close. We built a home gym, I’m not skinny but stayed in shape to run and climb ladders at work.
She used the home gym for a couple months, put on more weight. She got drepressed and really bitter. Really really bitter, she found out I was seeing massage girls and strippers. Now it was all my fault. So, she baked more tried to fatten me up.
I couldn’t put up with her complaining. It was an argument over my daughters wedding that ended it. She was trashing the bride to anyone who would listen. I had to get her out of there. She finally asked if I wanted her to leave and I said yes please.
4-1/2 yrs later, she’s put on more weight, doesn’t work, doesn’t drive, and severe foot/ankle problems. She’s become a hermit according to her daughter. I still visit the grandkids, fortunately my ex doesn’t talk to me.

It is a terrible way to exist. Imagine as the mobility disappears the anguish one must feel yet they cannot stop eating. It's definitely a disease.

Disease": a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms"

Is that "disease", contagious ?

Just how does one get that "disease", other than being an irresponsible loser.

And yes, I know there are medical reasons for some people to be over weight, but that is usually not the case.

So if some one eats their way in to a loss of mobility and feels anguish, but not ashamed, maybe that's the problem.

But why feel ashamed, when you can say you got a disease, much easier.

As people age unless they do some form of exercise and watch their diet gaining weight is inevitable. Especially made harder for people sitting behind a desk or let's say driving a truck. In my sexworker days I found business men and truck drivers to have the most problem being overweight to the point of obese.

Agreed, but one must still watch what they eat, regardless of their profession.

My problem was/is the temptation to over eat the wrong foods when at business lunches, and especially business dinners, adding booze.

The problem today is that you see young people in their 20's, especially women, grossly over weight, THAT is simply being irresponsible.

Next we are going to read that type 2 diabetes, is caused by a "disease".

One has to wonder if the rides with a single safety bar across multiple riders, would be a problem if some are left with too much space to the bar, because of a single obese rider.

That is one sharp observation.
