Bouncy castle blows 50 feet into the air with three kids inside :SayWhat?:

In upstate New York on Monday, three kids were swept away in a bouncy house after a gust of wind lifted the structure 50 feet into the air.

Two young boys, ages five and six, and one 10-year-old girl, were in the bouncy house when it lifted. all three jumped out before the house completely got away.

While the girl only suffered minor scrapes and bruises, the two boys weren't as lucky. One of the boys fell on to asphalt from at least 15 feet in the air, while the other landed on a parked car. The two boys, who are kindergarteners at Harrison Avenue Elementary School, were rushed to Albany Medical Center to treat their injuries.

It's usually old sewer mains and water mains that collapse like this. So it wouldn't have much to do with natural ground water. Though I'm sure natural ground water is also being depleted, but it's doubtful that within the cities this is the reason.

Water extraction for human use boosts California quakes

Extracting water for human activities is increasing the number of small earthquakes being triggered in California. A new study suggests that the heavy use of ground water for pumping and irrigation is causing mountains to lift and valleys to subside.

The scientists say this depletion of the water is increasing seismic activity along the San Andreas fault. They worry that over time this will hasten the occurrence of large quakes.

The report has been published in the journal Nature.

Father Files Restraining Order Against 5-Year-Old Alleged Bully

Brian Metzger has gone to drastic measures to protect his daughter. The Wisconsin dad filed a restraining order against her 5-year-old alleged bully.

Metzger’s daughter, 6, was repeatedly harassed by a male classmate at Prairie Lane Elementary School, according to a recent story published by Wisconsin local news affiliate WISN12. "She came home and said a student threatened her by saying, 'I want to slit your throat and watch you bleed,'" Metzger told WISN12. He explained that she and other students have been dealing with the same individual all year. Metzger had complained to school officials about the boy in the past, but they failed to remove him from his daughter's class, according to the New York Daily News. So Metzger decided to take the matter to the police.

Not your regular BLT: Bear, lion and tiger become best friends at U.S. zoo :biggrin2:

It may sound like the start of a joke but a bear, a lion and a tiger have formed an unusually strong bond, and even share the same enclosure at a zoo in America.

Leo the lion, Baloo the bear and Shere Khan the tiger were taken to the Noah's Ark Animal Rescue Centre in Georgia, US, in 2001, after being found by police officers during a drug raid at an Atlanta home, and have been together ever since.

When they arrived at the shelter at just a few months old, all three cubs were frightened, malnourished, and infected with parasites, but staff at the centre gave them the treatment and attention each animal needed to fully develop. It wasn't long before the trio was nicknamed the 'BLT' by zookeepers.

The only time the unconventional family has ever been separated was when Baloo underwent an operation to remove a harness around his paw, and even then his 'brothers' were agitated and nervously awaiting his return.

The public can now witness their touching friendship first hand in their own enclosure at the zoo, which cost more than $25,000 to build.
