[h=1]Monster Black Hole Is Biggest Ever Found[/h]
Astronomers have discovered what may be the most massive black hole ever known in a small galaxy about 250 million light-years from Earth, scientists say.
The supermassive black hole has a mass equivalent to 17 billion suns and is located inside the galaxy NGC 1277 in the constellation Perseus. It makes up about 14 percent of its host galaxy's mass, compared with the 0.1 percent a normal black hole would represent, scientists said.
"This is a really oddball galaxy," said study team member Karl Gebhardt of the University of Texas at Austin in a statement. "It's almost all black hole. This could be the first object in a new class of galaxy-black hole systems."

A rail bridge collapsed on Friday over a creek in southern New Jersey, causing a Conrail freight train to derail and spill hazardous chemicals into the water, authorities said.
Five tanks of the freight train, which was carrying vinyl chloride, fell into the Mantua Creek, which feeds into the Delaware River near Philadelphia, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
Vinyl chloride, a highly toxic and flammable industrial chemical, was spilling from the tanks, said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Cindy Oldham.

Authorities evacuated a half-mile (805-metre) area around the spill, which took place in Paulsboro, New Jersey, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.
The waterway was closed as well, the Coast Guard said.

State police said at least 18 contractors working in the area complained of respiratory distress.
The U.S. Coast Guard was working with the state Department of Environmental Protection to assess the situation.

Television images of the scene on CNN showed several cars partly submerged in the creek. One car was shown at a near-vertical angle from the bridge bed into the water.
Conrail is jointly owned by rail operators CSX Corp. a nd Norfolk Southern Corp.

The I can't believe this actually happened thread.

So what things, actions, doings you shake your head off and say. I really can't believe this happened. Go ahead and post away or find a legit explanation why it happened.

1- Driving through the highway today and see the 407 sign again. It dawn to me why would the government sell it to a Brazilian corporation. I believe they paid 1.4 mil for it. Question is why?. Over a period of years we could get that money back and more.

Your thoughts or you have other I can't believe this happened stories.

Good post. I always wondered what the benefits of selling it for a short gain term instead of looking at the long term gain.

As part of a controversial plan to balance the budget, and just prior to the Harris government's re-election campaign, the highway was leased to a conglomerate of private companies in 1999 for $3.1 billion, who renamed the route 407 ETR. The company, known as 407 International Inc., is owned by a consortium of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte (major shareholder) from Spain, Macquarie Infrastructure Group, and Montreal-based engineering firm SNC-Lavalin. The deal included a 99-year lease agreement, unlimited control over the highway and its tolls and a restriction under which the government may not build any nearby freeways which might potentially compete with 407 ETR; however, the Government maintained the ability to build a light transit system along the 407 right-of-way.
