Frog photobombs NASA launch

A frog was caught on camera during the launch of NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer spacecraft at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Wallops Island, Va., on Friday.

Jeremy Eggers, a spokesman for the facility, confirmed the veracity of the image of the airborne frog captured by NASA’s remote cameras. "The photo team confirms the frog is real and was captured in a single frame by one of the remote cameras used to photograph the launch," NASA said. "The condition of the frog, however, is uncertain."

The launch pad, Eggers explained to UniverseToday.com, includes a pool from "the high-volume water deluge system that activates during launches to protect the pad from damage and for noise suppression," which is likely where the frog was before the ignition of the Minotaur 5 rocket.

The spaceport sits on a wildlife refuge that mainly comprises a salt marsh and woodlands and contains habitat for a variety of species, including frogs and migratory birds. NASA says the relationship between its 3,000-acre facility and wildlife on the island is mutually beneficial: NASA’s launch facilities, roads, and facilities take up a small percentage of the area. The rest of the area remains undeveloped and provides excellent habitat for wildlife. During launches, short term disturbance occurs in the immediate vicinity of the launch pads, but the disturbance is short-lived allowing space launches and a wildlife habitat to coexist.

Of course it's not the first time an animal has interrupted — or been interrupted by — a NASA launch. In 2005, a turkey vulture hit a fuel tank during the launch of STS-114. In 2009, a test launch of the SpaceX Grasshopper startled a herd of cows.

Jonathan Adleta reportedly dreamed of the day he could have “daddy-daughter sex” — and ultimately his dream came to fruition.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, when his then-girlfriend Sarah became pregnant with his daughter, Jonathan Adleta refused to marry her unless she allowed for him to sexually abuse their daughter.
She accepted. If she later had a son, Sarah was expected to have a sexual relationship with him, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The couple reportedly made sex with their children “part of their parenting plan.”

IONIA, MI - Two men died Wednesday, Sept. 18, in a shootout that stemmed from a road rage confrontation, Ionia police said.
Ionia Department of Public Safety officers were dispatched to Wonder Wand Car Wash in the 400 block of South Steele Street shortly before 7 p.m. on reports of shots fired. Police arrived to find two men with gunshot wounds.

Initial investigation shows the Ionia men, ages 43 and 56, pulled into the car wash parking lot after a road rage incident. They exited their vehicles and eventually drew handguns and exchanged fire, police said. It wasn't clear what the two men were arguing about.

Life EMS transported the men to Sparrow Ionia Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police said both men, whose identities have not been released, held permits to carry concealed weapons.
The incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the Ionia County Sheriff's Department.

[h=1]Family mistakes girl's gunshot wound for menstruation[/h]

HAYWARD, Calif. -- A Hayward family who failed to call police immediately after their 10-year-old daughter was hit by gunfire early Thursday morning apparently thought the girl had started her period, police said Friday.

Police said they interviewed family members living at the home on Tampa Avenue and they all said that when the girl woke up around 2 a.m. Thursday with pain and bleeding, her symptoms seemed consistent with starting menstruation, according to Sgt. Mark Ormsby.

Even after taking her into a restroom to help her, they saw no indication that the girl had been struck by a bullet in the buttocks.

The girl awoke in pain again in the morning, and it was only then that the parents noticed bullet holes near her bed.

After seeing the bullet holes, they inspected her body more closely, located the bullet entry wound and called 911 around 7:35 a.m., more than five hours after the shooting, Ormsby said.

A doctor confirmed the wound was small and could have easily been overlooked if the parents had thought the girl was starting her period, Ormsby said.

The bullet had lodged in the girl's pelvis. She is now recovering with her family, according to police.

Multiple shell casings were found outside the home but no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, police said.

"Sadly, wishing for the death of a political opponent is so typical of the left. Pol Pot, Stalin, the Democrat sponsored KKK, the chief tool used by such folks has been terror and violence. While obviously not as murderous as the aforementioned, unions have also been a violent force in history. And in New Jersey, the teachers union has lived down to the violent tendency unions have always evinced."
