sigh...I am sick to death of the US being the world police. I know, chemical weapons bad. But I really wish we would just stay out of it.

First we launch the missiles, then Syria goes after Turkey, then we are NATO-obligated to put boots on the ground. Another Middle East clusterfuck.

My thinking is very Isolationist these days. I'm so tired of my country being at war. We have enough problems at home without trying to solve everyone else's.

It's all about economics. If the states can topple another middle east country, they are much closer to controlling the middle east and controlling the oil and getting out off the recession.

As most of you know I am not one to run from a fight but I see this as the flip side of that. And that is never pick a fight either.

Holy my shit.

It has somewhat stated.

Large swathes of Syria were without electricity on Wednesday after a high voltage power line in the center of the war-torn country was sabotaged, the electricity minister said.

"A terrorist attack against a high voltage line in the central region triggered a power cut in most of the Syrian governorates," Imad Khamis said in comments carried on state television.

In government terminology, "terrorist" refers to rebels battling against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

Districts of Damascus, suburbs of the Syrian capital and areas further afield were without electricity from Wednesday morning, residents told AFP.

Khamis said power was expected to be gradually restored soon.

Power cuts have become a regular occurrence in Syria as the armed conflict that started in March 2011 as a rebellion against the Assad regime has intensified.

Infrastructure in general is targeted.

On Tuesday, rebels sabotaged a gas pipeline in northeast Syria, state news agency SANA said, forcing the closure of a gas plant and affecting around 10 percent of daily output.

In February, Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji said acts of sabotage had caused damage worth some $11 billion.

Since the Syrian conflict broke out, more than 110,000 people have died, including over 40,100 civilians, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Syria is the only significant crude oil producing country in the Eastern Mediterranean region, which includes Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. According to the Oil and Gas Journal, Syria had 2,500,000,000 barrels (400,000,000 m3) of petroleum reserves as of 1 January 2010. Syria's known oil reserves are mainly in the eastern part of the country in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate near its border with Iraq and along the Euphrates River; a number of smaller fields are located in the center of the country.

In 2010, Syria produced around 385,000 barrels (61,200 m3) per day of crude oil. Oil production has stabilized after falling for a number of years, and is poised to turn around as new fields come on line. In 2008, Syria produced 187 billion cubic feet (5.3×109 m3) of natural gas, and two years later in 2010, it increased production to 275×109 cu ft (7.8×109 m3). While much of its oil is exported to Europe, Syria's natural gas is used in reinjection for enhanced oil recovery and for domestic electricity generation

Russia has made it extremely clear that if any war was to happen involving Syria they would get involved. On June 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned against any attempt at foreign military intervention in Syria, stressing that such a move is doomed to fail.

Shortly before this statement was released,
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the West against attempting to overthrow the Syrian Government: “There are governments and outside players that believe that all means are appropriate [to be used] to overthrow the Syrian regime.”

Look at what the gangster Obama is about to destroy.

Interesting movie Prick. I personally hate war. I also dislike totalitarian countries like Russia, China and Syria - not the people but the government. Nevertheless, I agree with Obama and others that some sort of an attack on Assad's assets is needed in light of the use of chemical weapons. The use of chemical weapons destroys beautiful places and innocent people. That act, in a desperation to maintain power has to be dealt with by force. We don't want to appease the real terrorists or evil people who do anything to maintain power (Assad, Putin, etc.) for themselves and their chorinees.

This whole thing looks more and more like a case of WAG THE DOG

But Obama aint up for re-election. You watch too much tv.

What are the trying to divert attention from and why does the administration care if Obama can't run again.

You can say "Wag the Dog" at anything - Where is your proof. This will not likely be a long war. Like Yugoslavia, attacks in Pakistan, etc. No ground troops. Just launch cruise missles and likely control air space.

I have to say it is very interesting how many conspiracy theorists are on this board. Perhaps I am wrong and just blind...

[h=1]LET’S JOIN ONE ANOTHER TO CRUSH THE UNHOLY, UNRULY, JIHADI MUSLIMS[/h]
[h=2]How do I put this politely? You Americans are dumb. Today, Russia and America are fighting each other over fighting the Muslim radicals. Instead, we should be uniting to crush these violent Islamists, once and for all.[/h]You Americans want to remove my ally, the Syrian leader Bashar Al-Assad. To borrow a phrase from your John F. Kennedy, Assad may be a son-of-a-bitch, but he’s my son-of-a-bitch.
So if you want to destroy him, what are you going to give me in return? If your answer is, “We will give you nothing,” well, why would I ever agree to that? That’s not negotiation, that’s dictation; it’s a return to the bad Yeltsin days, when Holy Mother Russia was pushed into the mud like a used whore.
