I have to agree based on the other pic he seems to be a good guy who more than likely lost his cool during the G20 and wasn't thinking straight. Everyone makes mistakes especially if they are having a bad day or who knows what happened to him from other protesters. When I posted the thread I called for his firing but maybe I over reacted and I am big enough to admit it.

Did he lose his cool or was he provoked?

Maybe he was punched, kicked, spit on or had something thrown on him.

Now I'm just speculating here but like I said before it's best to wait and hear all of the facts before condemnation.

One thing we do know is that he is capable of extreme bravery in the line of duty and that alone tells me that he deserves the right of due process and for people to keep an open mind and not prejudge him.

Or maybe he was an unsophisticated cop who believed a little too much in "cop-think" - i.e. that there are the "good people" who deserved his help. The old folks, simple folks and kids who always smiled at him and made him feel good when he helped them.

And the bad folks. The "bad citizens" who didn't respect the flag and law and order and who called him a pig. And that the "bad folks" deserved to get a bashing over.

You can train them and send them to seminars, but some cops still can't see past the stereotypes. The black and white view of the world that makes them great officers in some circumstances make them assholes and bullies in others.

What I hate about photos and "gotcha" videos is that they never tell the whole story.
Its part of the reason why I personally try to avoid coming to firm conclusions until I have heard the whole story.

Cop threatened to Taser prisoners

Cop threatened to Taser prisoners

Here we go again.

A Toronto cop’s threat to Taser suspects’ testicles was condemned as “disgraceful, unacceptable and shocking” Monday by a Toronto Police spokesman.
The video, released by a Justice Hugh Fraser, shows Const. Christopher Hominuk profanely vowing to Taser two handcuffed prisoners in the rear of police cruisers on May 24, 2010.

“This officer’s actions are disgraceful, completely unacceptable and shocking,” said police spokesman Mark Pugash. “One of the reasons we had these in-car cameras installed was the protection of both officers and the public. “We could identify the frivolous complaints and the serious ones as we did in this case and followed it up with an investigation by professional standards, which led to this charge,” added Pugash.
Hominuk, 37, pleaded guilty last Monday to one count of threatening bodily harm in the west Toronto incident. He’ll be sentenced in June and has been suspended with pay since he was charged last June.

An in-cruiser video camera caught Hominuk slapping Robert James Bolgan, 47, in the face and ordering him to lie down on the backseat. Court heard that Hominuk insisted Bolgan reveal the identity of a missing suspect. Bolgan answered that he didn’t know.
“If you are lying to me, when I get you back at the station, I’m Tasering you in the f---ing nuts,” Hominuk snarled at Bolgan.

Hominuk then confronted a second suspect, Roger William Bradshaw, 39, who was lying in a nearby cruiser’s backseat. The 14-year officer pressed his Taser into Bradshaw’s neck and reiterated his demand for the fugitive’s identity. Hominuk then threatened to Taser him in the genitals if he was lying.

Paul Burstein, president of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, said the case “demonstrates the need of having an objective and complete record such as a video or audio recording of encounters between the police and the public. “This strongly supports expanding the use of these technologies,” said Burstein.

The veteran criminal defence lawyer said this case also shows the dangers of expanding the availability of Tasers for officers in Toronto. Pugash said Toronto’s fleet of 400 prisoner-carrying cruisers are almost all equipped with in-cruiser cameras. The last three divisions’ cars will be functioning with cameras by the end of July 2011.
Pugash said Toronto’s use of Taser regulations are among the toughest in Canada and were praised by a judicial inquiry on the RCMP-Tasering death of Robert Dziekanski at Vancouver International Airport in 2007.

I'm amazed the cop plead guilty right away:

Usually they deny...deny...deny!!
Or their buddies cover up for them...LOL

He couldn't deny it, his own cruiser video camera recorded the entire thing. I"m torn on this one and wish more than not that they would cut him some slack. The prisoner was scum and how else are you going to get info out of these guys. He's biggest mistake was not being a very sharp cookie letting himself be recorded. On the other hand it can be a slippery slope if they have too much power.

I'm onboard with you, except we cant have our cops torturing people, lest we become a 3rd world country where that shit is normal.

Sorry, in this case I side with the media. Thank God for democracy!!! :great:

Yeah, I know and agree with you. It's just that the criminals get away with way too much. I am referring to the hard nosed repeat offenders but yeah as I said it can lead to a very slippery slope.

Didn't the cop know his cruiser had a camera ????.
They did, but they probably figured their buddy cops would delete the tape for them.

I bet one of the cops pissed off his co-workers, maybe he was schlupping the sargeants wife or something

Colorado police pepper-spray misbehaving boy, 8

Colorado police pepper-spray misbehaving boy, 8

There wasn't a big enough cop to take him by the hair and spank him?. Was there a need for the pepper-spray to be used. Kid is only 8 years old.

When asked about the pepper spray and what he did, Aidan said: "I kind of deserved it."

The kid wasn't just being mouthy, he was violent and completely out of control. Pepper spray doesn't do long-term damage, he'll be fine and maybe next time he'll think twice before he behaves like that at school.

Wonder if the parents are gonna sue for child abuse and/or police brutality.

(It IS the USA after all...)

This kid is on his way to being severely medicated for years to come.

Moms really overweight and the kid looks pudgy.

I'm betting he scarfing looks of sugar and his system isn't reacting well.

Two things:

I can't believe the mom knew he acted this way (and did nothing about it)

and

I can't believe he's on fricken tv over it. Now MORE kids will do this.......

As for a cop spanking him, yeah, ok, that'd go over well.....cop would be arrested, charged and thrown in jail for child abuse. Hell, a kid's PARENT can't even strike him.......(see the arrest last year of a US visitor arrested for swatting his kid in the ass a couple of years ago).

The usual media needs to fill in the air time slots. I doubt more kids will do that, Do you think they want to be pepper sprayed?.

No, but the resulting lawsuit and settlement might make them think about it.....if someone can sue McD's because their food is...ahem...fattening...then they will sue about anything....
