Sad, isn't it?.

But in the best-case scenario, the 25-year-old psychology major will get no more than $250,000 because of a cap on claims filed against government agencies.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The mother of a 17-year-old boy has filed a federal lawsuit against the Huntsville Police Department claiming that officers killed the boy by tackling him to the ground, breaking his ribs, pepper-spraying him, and shoving a sharp object down his throat.

In March, the boy’s mother, Nancy Smith, filed the claim for assault and battery, wrongful death and excessive force.

The young man, whose first name is not mentioned in the lawsuit, was allegedly set up in a drug bust. When plainclothes officers – who did not identify themselves as officers – approached Smith, he fled.

An officer caught Smith and threw him to the ground, where he was cuffed, forcibly restrained and pepper-sprayed.

As described in the lawsuit, police were under the impression that the teenager had swallowed a bag of drugs. An officer who had no medical training proceeded to shove a “sharp oblong object” down Smith’s throat to locate the bag.

However, as Nancy Smith maintains in her lawsuit, “no bag was found or recovered from the scene nor was a bag found or retrieved from the hospital where Minor N.S. was treated until his death.”

The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has released an autopsy report classifying the death of the 17-year-old boy as undetermined. The report specifies that the boy had suffered blunt force injuries and suggested asphyxiation as a probable cause of death; it also noted that nothing unusual had been found in his stomach.

Because Smith’s blood samples were discarded and were never tested, the autopsy report could not definitively rule out the possibility that he died of a drug overdose.

Although the incident occurred a year ago, local reporters were unable to obtain the autopsy report for months.

The Huntsville Police Department has declined to comment on the case.

Cops Who Were Caught on Video Robbing and Terrorizing Store Owners Will Not Face Charges

A sickening injustice happened this week in Philadelphia. Several Cops who were even caught on video terrorizing 22 Philly bodega owners will not be facing any criminal charges.

A Philadelphia plainclothes narcotics squad had barreled into the immigrants’ bodegas, guns drawn. They had cut the wires on the stores’ video surveillance systems, robbed thousands of dollars from the cash drawers, stolen food and merchandise and then trashed the shops on their way out the door.

“The only way a cop can lose his job in this city is if he shoots another cop during roll call.”
Video from one of the heists can be seen below. One of these scumbags starts barraging the store owner, asking him if it was uploading to his computer at his house. Then he cuts the wires!

According to Philly.com, the shop owners were all legal immigrants. None had criminal records. Nor had they ever met – they hailed from four corners of the city and spoke different languages. Yet the stories they told Daily News reporters Barbara Laker and Wendy Ruderman were identical.

The fact that this disgusting villainy was caught on film and had 22 different witnesses makes it a fairly easy case to prosecute right? Not in police state America.

I think you should be reporting that to the FBI if you have proof

Nassau County nabs 104 johns who tried to pay undercover cops for sex

Nassau County nabs 104 johns who tried to pay undercover cops for sex

https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/104-johns-nabbed-nassau-county-pay-sex-article-1.1361717

In the US look at the sting operations they conduct. It's dehumanizing and unfair. Doctors and lawyers were caught in the sting, nobody is immune to the future tyranny the HARPER government is about to bring down on us and for what, CONSENSUAL SEX!

It's a bloody disgrace in the US what is being done.

More than 100 johns — lawyers and doctors among them — were named and shamed in an aggressive Nassau County sting after soliciting sex from cops posing as prostitutes.
The arrests were announced Monday after a month-long investigation dubbed “Operation Flush the Johns.”
Not only did the 104 busts send shockwaves through marriages, law firms and medical offices, they also sent a strong message from law enforcement that people who pay for sex will be treated like common criminals in Nassau County.
“This whole concept of looking at johns as victims — they’re not victims!” explained Nassau County . “They’re further exploiting and victimizing trafficked women and men.”
The suspects, who each face up to a year on misdemeanor promotion of prostitution charges, range in age from 17 to 79. They were arrested during eight stings at hotel rooms between April 18 and May 24.
Undercover cops arranged the encounters by posting bogus ads on Backpage.com. The online honey traps showed the likes of Amber, 27, a fictitious scantily clad “girl next door” who is “420 friendly” — slang for marijuana use — and “very open minded.” Another advertised Dylan of Garden City, L.I., a “down to earth guy who has a secret wild side.”
JOHN BYRNE
Peter F. Malet of Westbury was arrested on suspicion of hiring a prostitute.
Each rendezvous was captured on hidden cameras, sealed when johns agreed to pay between $50 and $100 for sex acts.
All the suspects have pleaded not guilty. Legal experts say they are unlikely to face jail time, but that’s not really the point, Nassau officials said. They’re targeting johns who fund the trade, which often includes violence against sex workers.
One man caught in the sting was 79-year-old lawyer Ivan Dochter. He wouldn’t comment, but his wife, Joan, was stunned.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” said Joan, 76, outside her family’s upscale condominium in Manhasset, L.I. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. He’s 79 years old!”
David Hershkowitz, 57, of Merrick, L.I., made it clear he was humiliated by his arrest.
JOHN BYRNE
Ivan Dochter, 79, of North Hills was arrested on suspicion of hire a prostitute. "I have no idea what you're talking about. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. He's 79 years old," said his wife Joan, who wore a house coat outside her family's upscale condominium in Manhasset, L.I.
“Please, please be sensitive to the situation,” Hershkowitz said before referring a reporter to his lawyer.
The suspected john’s lawyer, Bruce Barket, said the arrests might be entrapment. He called the busts an abuse of power, claimed Rice had “an agenda” and suggested the arrests were mean spirited.
“To put a poster to humiliate these men and their families is outrageous,” Barket said. “It was nothing short of outrageous for the prosecutor to try to humiliate these men.”
Two physicians, Dr. Richard Obedian, 45, an othopedic surgeon from tony Muttontown, and Dr. Peter Malet, 62, a gastroenterologist from Garden City, were also nabbed in the sting.
The collars represent a drastic shift in how Nassau County prosecutes the world’s oldest profession. Prior to the bust, fewer than 40 johns were arrested by Nassau County police in the last 10 years, authorities said.
Richard Obedian, 45 of Muttontown. Arrested on suspicion of renting a prostitute.
“Anyone who thinks this is a victimless crime has not met a sex worker. There are victims, and the johns are the ones who are exploiting them,” Rice said.
The NYPD, by comparison, arrested 5,834 people for patronizing a prostitute from 2008 to 2012, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice Services.
In January 2012, an NYPD crackdown called “Operation Losing Proposition” netted 186 johns citywide. The department did not publicize the names or photos of the suspects.
Back in 1979, then- insisted WNYC broadcast “The John Hour,” which featured an on-air reading of the names of suspected solicitors of prostitutes. WNYC was owned by the city then. The shaming lasted just one episode, though Koch remained a lifelong fan of the broadcast.
“They were wrong, and I was right,” Koch wrote in the Daily News in 2008. “And we ought to bring it back.”

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announces the arrest of 104 men on charges of soliciting a prostitute at a news conference, Monday, June 3, 2013, in Mineola, N.Y.
Dennis Lemke of Mineola, a lawyer for one of the Nassau County suspects, said publicizing the sting was unnecessary and would only cause agony for the alleged johns’ families.
“They’re humiliating (the suspects’) children, their parents, their wives,” said Lemke. “Think about the 13-year-old son going to school tomorrow.”
But Rice scoffed at the notion that patrons of prostitutes deserved special treatment, likening them instead to drunken drivers.
“They have a thought in mind — they want to act on that impulse, that need — and they don’t think about the (consequences) of it,” Rice said.
Shaming johns has become increasingly popular among cops across the country. According to the National Institute of Justice, about 60% of police departments publicize the identity of johns in some way.

Backpage.com is owned by Voice Media Group, a spinoff of the Village Voice chain of alt-weeklies. The site was the subject of protests in 2011 after 51 state attorneys general signed a letter charging that the site had become a hub for sex trafficking — particularly of minors.
At the time, Backpage touted its efforts to curb illegal activity on its site, and pledged to cooperate further with law enforcement.
But the Rev. Katharine Henderson, the president of Auburn Seminary, said the site is still preferred by lowlifes.
“We know that Backpage is one of the most popular sites in trafficking people for sex; sometimes they are children,” said Henderson, whose group collected more than 200,000 signatures calling for the closing of the site in 2011.
Rice said would-be customers will now think twice before soliciting sex. And she promised more hotel-room stings.
“We know that the commission of this specific crime is dramatically affected by the perceived risk of getting caught,” Rice added. “We are giving fair warning to johns that the risk is growing rapidly.” With Edgar Sandoval

If I understand it correctly this sting operation was run in a domcratic state. New York ( read Liberal) and carried out by unionized police ( in Ontario such unions are supported the Liberals). So what are really saying? That the Conserative party in Canada is slighty to the left the democrats in the US?

If you are going to use political scare tactics least at least use some that make sense.
