What all this means within North Amercia is the collective administrators, educators, social workers and others are all cowards and won't deal appropriately with bullies and will consequence the victims. Why will they consequence the victim because the powers that be are bullies themselves.

I wonder when elementary school students will start suiciding on their iphones/smartphones/internet

What a bunch of assholes.

We need to stop verbalizing the consequences and the suicides or more people will get kicked in the balls.

Again I find myself shaking me head. It's not like he groped a young girl, he was being choked and robbed for fark sakes.

A key point here is the word "investigating", doesn't mean he has been tried convicted and sentenced. Just like if you defend yourself during a robbery or carjacking, the cops will investigate to determine what crime (if any) has been committed.

But when the mother says "he doesn't know about sexual harassment", ignorance of the law is no excuse. If someone doesn't know spray painting a statue is illegal, doesn't mean they won't be charged with vandalism.

I agree though that better supervision should be provided on the buses. I'm not sure why they aren't equipped with video surveillance. If they were, this case would be cut and dried.

This story however illustrates the main problem with the way schools etc handle bullying. As hoffman says, they attack the victim instead of going after the bully. If I was the kid's parent I'd be tempted to choke out one of the administrators during the hearing and then say "I'm going to charge you with assault" when they defended themselves......

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - The mother of a 14-year-old Flint boy who was beaten last week says she hopes a video of the attack posted on Facebook leads to arrests.
Trina McNeil told The Flint Journal that video of the Friday afternoon attack was posted on a Facebook page of one of the attackers.

McNeil says at least 25 people clicked Facebook’s “like” button in response to the video.

According to a police report, the Northern High School student was walking on the city’s west side when three teens that he recognized as schoolmates attacked him. The boy told police he believed the attack was unprovoked.

The video shows two teens abruptly attacking McNeil for almost a minute before he was able to run away. The newspaper published an edited version of the video on its website. (Warning: Video contains graphic images.)

McNeil is doing ok after the attack, but one of his eyes was still swollen shut on Monday.

HERE IS THE VIDEO.

Then he was interviewed and stated (Unconvincingly) that the fat kid picked on him first.

That was disgusting. I don't care how old they are, the 2 deserve the shit kicked out of them.

Now morally I know that's not the answer but I still feel that it should be mandatory. Teach the kids that no matter what, unless you're superman, there will always be someone bigger and tougher than you...always.

I agree and I had a friend that handled the situation perfectly. His 12 year old son was beaten by 3 boys the same age twice in the school year. He knew he couldn't grab them and lay down a good sound thrashing so he hired 3-13 year old boys from another school. Handed them each $50 when the job was complete, 6 black eyes later and $150 problem was solved!

Bullied gay student who fired stun gun is expelled

Shouldn't the bullies be suspended as well?.

A gay student who said he fired a stun gun in the air at school when bullies threatened him has been expelled, according to the school district.
Darnell “Dynasty” Young, a junior at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, may return to school in the district on Jan. 7, 2013, Indianapolis Public Schools said Tuesday in an e-mail statement.

Young, 17, said bullies hounded him daily. The harassment escalated on April 16, when a group surrounded him at school and threatened to beat him up, according to the .
Young took the stun gun, which he had stashed in his backpack for a few weeks, and fired it off in the air. The students dispersed, but within minutes, school police had arrested Young.

"My point was not to hurt anybody … the purpose was to back them off. I didn’t know what else to do," he told msnbc's NewsNation on Monday.
The district said it had accepted the decision of an examiner, who presided over Young’s hearing last week, to expel him.

“While the district does not condone bullying, it also does not allow weapons to be brought on our school campuses for any reason. Students who violate this rule will be held accountable,” Mary Louise Bewley, director of the district’s Office of School and Community Relations, said in the e-mail statement.

When reached by phone on Tuesday, Young declined to comment. His mother, Chelisa Grimes, said she couldn’t believe her son had been expelled.
"They really kicked him out," she told the .

Grimes said that she had given her son -- who transferred to the school last year -- the stun gun for protection, saying school authorities weren’t doing enough to protect him.
“I had to do something to protect my child. I was in fear of losing my child, either at the hands of the bullies or either at the hands of himself," she told msnbc's NewsNation.
Principal Larry Yarrell earlier said the school had tried to look into the bullying reports, but Young was not always able to identify all of those who had harassed him. He said they had interviewed staff and students, and he had also recommended that Young “tone down” his accessories.

Carolyn Laub, Executive Director of the Gay-Straight Alliance Network, denounced the district's decision.

“Dynasty, like many other lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people, was pushed out of school by an administration that failed to keep him safe and by school discipline policies that remove students instead of resolve the problem,” Laub said in an e-mail statement. “When schools use a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to school discipline, they unfortunately reinforce an environment of fear and punishment and fail to create a climate of inclusion, safety, and respect for all students.”
