Dealing with bad neighbours

Anyone here have any bad neighbours?

I figured that living in a condo would be a little more peaceful than living in a rental apartment. I guess I was wrong.

There is a couple next door to me that fights all the time and it is painful hearing them when they start to go at it. I have to keep the windows closed or my headphones on. I'm pretty sure the guy (who looks like a total douchebag) is a coke head since he always seems to be sniffing and wiping his nose.

There is another young couple that moved in on my floor. They have a dog that I am sure they allow to urinate on the hallway carpet. They moved in during the spring and since then the carpet has gotten dark patches all over and the hallway smells like a zoo on rainy or humid days. I have seen the woman standing in the hallway with the dog early in the morning and she ducks back inside when she sees me. I mentioned it to the board but they don't seem to be taking any action.

I had been in a similar situation. I managed to take some pics and sent them to Property Management and they sent a warning letter to the dog owners and they stopped right away. What bothers me is that if the dog owners can stop right away, how could they let it went on for so long? And all these time, the smell didn't bother them one bit !?

Even buying a home is no guarantee of good neighbors. People are people at every economic level which some will be assholes. I have a neighbor that shot of a gun (into the air) on new years eve....another has the police visit every month or so. Most of the people on my block are nice and considerate...but it only takes one asshole with a loud stereo to wreck it for everyone.

Remember that father and son team on Niagara Street in Toronto that ended up going to jail because they terrorized the neighbourhood.
