I once tried to teach one of my kittens to walk on a leash. I still remember laughing hysterically as I dragged the obstinate creature over the grass. :rofl!:

@Escape, yes they can be, I know 3 people off hand that leash their cats and they've had no issues doing so. However, I've never trained a cat so I couldn't say if it's easy or hard

I was once stalked and bitten by a cat while at a friends house. Damn thing broke skin too.

I'm definitely not a cat person. I find dogs so much easier to read, play with, and have fun with.

He was the ugliest one or the 7 new pups from my local breeder. I tried pet stores, online, local shelters, begging and still cost me $450. The shelters have the easiest process but most are doberman, pits, terriers and other aggressive breeds. Local pet stores are heavily over priced and you are not sure what you are getting. Rescue organisations has an upfront fee of $400 plus shots, collar etc..., over a grand.
You happy with what you have or wish you can trade him in?. I am not overly happy but cannot give him up, he is family now.

I have four cats and didn't pay a penny for any of them. I didn't choose them, they were cats in need (at separate times) and I took them in. I wouldn't trade any of them for all the money in the world. Well, my mind COULD be changed--let's talk!

If you Google 'compare dog breeds', there's lots of sites that can help you figure out the best breed to fit your needs.
When I wanted a dog that was small, not overly protective (because I was entertaining strangers frequently), didn't shed much and was hypoallergenic, I got a Yorkie/Shitzu. I paid $500 from a reputable local breeder in BC.

Two kittens brought into my friend's vet clinic to be put down because the elderly owner could not handle them. That was 15 years ago. One passed away in the spring and Ruth Ann ( full name is Ruthless Animal) is still going strong. Both were free.

Larry with all due respect, please educate yourself before making untrue and misleading statements deeming dobermans, pits and terriers as being aggressive breeds.There are breeds that are stronger, higher energy, needing more exercise, some are made for working some are made for laying around, but no breed is more aggressive. Aggression is misunderstood and often misinterpreted. Because a dog bites or chases, doesn't mean it's aggressive.Reading a dog and understanding it's reactions take training and knowledge, which I wish more people would get. Stating that specific breeds are more aggressive is like saying a particular race of people are more hateful than another. We are all capable of hating, some even killing, but that doesn't make us all hateful or murderous.
My dog has been attacked by a shit tzu and a golden a lab, I've been biten by a golden retriever and a collie, but never a pit, rottie or a terrier, or a mix of either. Most dogs I've worked with are amstaffs, pits, or pit, rottie mixes, never had an issue and a lot of these dogs came from fighting or abuse. My sister, who's been a vet for more than 20 yrs, will tell you the same. But and very sadly many will believe the hype and generalize when they hear news stories of a pit, or another breed injuring someone. Ask a vet or a shelter worker how many other types of breeds are euthanized for biting, the list would be long, because biting incidents aren't breed specific, just the news stories are.
and...Please never buy from a pet store, most should know by now, that pet stores are supported by puppy mills. They've stopped selling cats and dogs, thankfully at pet stores here because of this.
