'don't dress like a whore'

This can be a very interesting debate about dress and how it is viewed, the effect it has on man and his actions, and mans control over his actions.

I believe the responsibility lies in the man (the person who should be respectful and control himself, guard his and her modesty).

not to judge but Ms. Ford has to be careful with the hypocrisy…if she was trying to be funny..she should have tried harder.

That's true, but something you, and these slutwalkers, and everyone else forgets: sexual predators aren't men, they're animals.....therefore the rules of self control and decency don't apply.

Another way to look at it, there are things that we should be able to do in a free society but don't.

Such as:
You don't wear a t shirt that says "I hate _iggers" in the jane finch area
You don't wear a t shirt that says "I hate fags" in a church st gay bar
You don't wear 10 gold chains, a cartier watch, and have 1000 dollar bills hanging out of your pockets in the jane finch area.

Now those are more extreme examples, but still.....you want to attract attention? You can't always control whose attention you attract.....you just might end up getting the attention of someone who would do you harm......

I agree with your examples tboy in that it draws attention to you. Having attention drawn to you and provoking an attack are two different things. A sexual predator is drawn to you not because of what you are wearing but who you are. If they perceive you as weak and vulnerable then you make a great target. How many women that were raped in their homes by the balcony rapist 7 years ago were dressed as whores? How many children that get sexually molested are dressed as whores? The list goes on and on.

I make no comment on the rights or wrongs of dress, free speech or the mind set of predators.

one look at the pic of that girl with the football would stop any sexual feeling I had for her

I never said every sexual assault is/was caused by the way a person dresses....i simply said that to avoid becoming a target, there are some things you can do to avoid it....one of which is not dressing in a manner that attracts attention....believe me, not all sexual predators only prey on the weak, I read somewhere that rapes and sexual assaults are mostly based on oppurtunity.....(as in a woman walking alone in a dark parking lot).

Saying someone shouldn't dress provacatively is no different than saying someone shouldn't walk in dark places alone late at night.

Basically, these women (et al) are fighting or arguing FOR dressing like a slut.......I mean, how fucked up IS that? I remember a time when women DIDN'T want to dress or act like a slut.......go figure...maybe I'm old fashioned.....

Just for the record, a lot of sexual assaults occur when a woman leaves a bar or club....from guys she's "played" with all night, the first time this subject came up there was a story about a woman who (Like the movie with jodie foster) had drank in a bar, got a few patrons riled up, one of them followed her out and raped her.....now, maybe it wasn't only the way she was dressed but I bet if she had daisy dukes on and a see through top, it probably wouldn't have helped......

Women as old as 80 years old are rape.....

Woman wearing burkas get rape......

Even men get rape

Children get rape......

It is not what you wear......

The way you look can entice a younger rapist. I've stopped my daughter from going out in certain clothes because of the wrong attention it could bring. Yes some rapist will look for traits but some sexual assaults and rapes do come from a trigger which can be raunchy attire. It's like a non flashy guy being robbed, yes it happens but being flashy would more than likely attract the wrong individuals.

Rayfinkle you're a rude individual!!

I find myself agreeing with Tboy once again. We need to take responsibility for ourselves. Once we become victims does it really matter the claim of I can wear or do whatever I like, no it does not!

Why can't a woman dress whatever way they want too....
Are we also have to take care of sick individuals who rape....
Rape is rape....It is NOT how you dress.......

You want people to be responsible for their behavior well why not
focus on the Rapist........not the victim.......Why should women always
conform to what some sick men can not control......

Slut is just a word....A word that men called women that are confident to wear sexy
outfits......do you can your wives sluts when she dresses nice.....
Come on....Once again I feel like I am in the Fifties with some of you
men.......

Do you think disable women dress sexy......

The most women raped in the World are women in war torn Countries...
Yes they dress sexy ......Come on....

If a woman wants to dress however way they feel good and sexy
then why not ......you men dress anyway you want too....

He should have posted that in Red Comic sans the new international standard of sarcastic and stupid comments.

Children get rape......

Bliss....the letter D is your friend....use it wisely.......as in rapeD......as in children get rapeD.....

But saying "it is not what you wear" is like saying all automobile accidents are caused by bad drivers, not road conditions.......

Why can't a woman dress whatever way they want too....THEY CAN, THERE ARE JUST PERILS ATTACHED TO HOW ONE DRESSES
Are we also have to take care of sick individuals who rape....ACCORDING TO THE LAW, YES WE DO HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF INDIVIDUALS WHO RAPE, AS WELL AS THOSE THAT MURDER, DISMEMBER AND KILL SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING DRUNK
Rape is rape....It is NOT how you dress.......THAT'S LIKE SAYING RAPE IS RAPE NO MATTER WHERE YOU WALK, WHAT TIME YOU WALK, OR WHAT AREA YOU WALK IN......

You want people to be responsible for their behavior well why not
focus on the Rapist........not the victim.......IN THIS CASE, THE STORY IN QUESTION IS ABOUT HOW NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.....
Why should women always
conform to what some sick men can not control......FOR THE SAME REASON MEN, WOMEN, CHILDREN, ALL HAVE TO CONFORM TO CERTAIN RULES IN A FREE SOCIETY.......BY THE WAY, I'LL BREAK IT TO YOU GENTLY, WOMEN DON'T HAVE TO CONFORM TO ANYTHING, OTHER THAN THE LAWS GOVERNING OUR SOCIETY

Slut is just a word....A word that men called women that are confident to wear sexy
outfits......do you can your wives sluts when she dresses nice.....DRESSING NICE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN DRESSING LIKE A SLUT......AND I HATE TO BREAK IT TO YOU, BUT IT WAS A WOMAN WHO SAID IT THIS TIME, NOT A MAN
Come on....Once again I feel like I am in the Fifties with some of you

Do you think disable women dress sexy......YES AND THAT IS PRETTY IGNORANT OF YOU TO ASSUME THEY DON'T.....

The most women raped in the World are women in war torn Countries...
Yes they dress sexy ......Come on....

If a woman wants to dress however way they feel good and sexy
then why not ......you men dress anyway you want too....

Bliss, once again you go off the deep end with a post based on your lack of understanding the topic.

1) no one ever said a woman couldn't dress how they want. YOU invented that point out of thin air.
2) no one ever said women aren't raped for a variety of reasons.
3) no one ever said women are raped solely based on what they wear
4) dressing sexy and dressing like a whore are two totally different things.
5) men do NOT dress anyway we want...we have to conform to society's standards too.....especially in the workplace. I can tell you this: if any woman in any of the offices I worked at showed up one day in leapard print tights and a brink pink crop top with her tits hanging out she'd be asked to go home and change....just like if a man showed up at the office wearing a purple thong and bunny slippers and a dirty t shirt.
6) so I guess you've forgotten about certain places that have dress codes? You know the ones, where men are not admitted without a tie? or a jacket? Well, women have to dress to those standards as well.
7) Like blackie, you're confusing sexual assault with rape. Rape is rape and sexual assault could be anything from getting your butt pinched to someone brushing up against your boob while you're in line at tim horton's......don't confuse the two....(I know it will be difficult for you, but try....)

It's great that you posted those stats, but most of them have zero to do with the topic at hand. The topic is about women in THIS society, not war torn countries, not central african villages, not children, not incest, and not about women in burkhas.

I find it hilarious how you find it so outrageous that one of the reccommendations to avoid being sexually assaulted to is modify how one dresses. I guess you also find it outrageous that a single woman living alone should lock her doors at night? should avoid dark vacant parking lots at night? that they should stay in well lit public areas after dark? If not WHY not? Dressing appropriately is no different than any of those pieces of advice.....

Unless of course you're this young lady. She can go where ever she likes!

\bliss: did you write these stats? a lot of them are contradictory:

11% of women have physical injury resulting for sexual assault
63% of victims suffer physical harm
which is it? 11% or 63%? it can't be both......

About 50% of sex assaults occur on dates
80% of sexual assault incidents occur in the home
So the moral of these stats is, don't take your date home with you.....because according to this, 40% of sexual assaults are date rapes where the woman took him home......

80% of assailants are friends and family of the victim
friends AND family? How does that work.....you're a father AND her best friend? Wait, I get it, you're her brother and her buddy......and since 40% of them occur in the home, the moral is: don't date a relative who is also your friend and don't take them home...that should eliminate about 95% of the sexual assaults right there.......

Very true when it comes to young people getting molested or raped in their homes. It usually is a close family friend or a relative. Dress in these cases have nothing to do with it, it's a moot point.

Dress attire how ever in public unless the lady is confident and feisty can attract the wrong attention. It could be as subtle as a grope or a feel like is happening downtown right now. Some dude is running up behind women and grabbing a hand full of their bums.

I'm willing to wager that these were all ladies wearing clothing that accentuated their lovely feature. Now, I will be the first to admit, he's as guilty as they come and deserves jail time. I will also say I would never want the ladies to not dress sexy because I love the lovely eye candy but it probably is their sexiness that's drawing this pervert in for the feel.

When a woman looks great all of us straight men have dirty and naughty thoughts that run through our head, sorry it's human nature. The problem is when you get the few men that actually believe they can act on their thoughts without the woman's permission. The sicko's are among us so we need to always know our surroundings and know how to kick a little ass if we need to.

As for this guy grabbing a woman's buns, I bet the italians are laughing their ass off at this......(the ones in italy, not the ones on st clair or in woodbridge). BTW madman, if a woman pinched your bum would you call the police and have her arrested?

Once again, you are correct about how women dress might attract the wrong sort of attention. There's a thread on here somewhere where a reference to how women dress was written up in the paper. I seem to recall that the woman in the story was complaining about how men stared at her boobs (worked in a coffee shop, bistro or something) and she was shown wearing a tight low cut top with a push up lacy bra with the lace showing....I stated then, like I'll state now, you cannot control WHO looks at your features....if you dress to show them off, don't complain because people notice.....I mean, we've ALL gone jeans shopping with women and after trying a pair on, what's the FIRST thing they do when they come out of the dressing room? Turn around and see what their ass looks like. Why? they certainly can't see it, and not all women are lesbos so they ain't doing it for other women....they are doing it so MEN look at it...again, if you don't want MEN to look at your ass, don't dress to show it off...EOS

I can't argue with your observations bud! it's true, the first pose when trying on pants is the ass pose! If it's a tight top the ladies will show you a profile shot.

I have 2 good buddies, one the ladies absolutely love the other well they look the other way.

One day in a bar my so so buddy walks up to a good looking lady and tells her how hot she's looking and if he can buy her a drink. I kid you not she almost snarled at him, I thought she was going to change into a vampire LMAO.

Once my other buddy arrived 15 minutes later we told him to walk up to her and tell her how hot she is and ask to buy her a drink.

Here's the twist, he walks up to her, tells her how hot she is and driving him crazy. She should make it up to him by buying him a drink.

Her response-

"you buy me the drink I'll give you my number" and she placed her hand on his shoulder and twisted the curls on the back of his head.

I learned then it's first on your look and then on your game, put the two together a man could have almost any woman he wants.

Watch clips of this show, it's a hoot on guys trying to pick up ladies in bars.
