Don't you find it cruel to get your dog neutered?.

We are getting our dog 3 month old Husky female to get fixed but it makes me sad and wonder why there is a need for it if she is a house dog. I've read all information on the net why it is done but we take our dog for a walk on a leash and she never runs loose. Plus maybe we can breed her but my family refuses to do so.

I just find that taking out a sex drive from an animal is cruel and selfish.

Just my sad thoughts.

wait until you have to follow her around the house with a mop when she goes into heat.

The dog won't know the difference. You can't be sure she will never get loose...huskies can jump a fence, like to dig and once they're out, they love to run and run far. Spaying her is the responsible thing to do.

You reminded me of when my son was 4, our husky puppy was going in to get spayed. I explained to my son that she was having an operation so she couldn't have puppies. He looked really sad and said, "but Mom, what if she WANTS to have puppies?"

One time I was working out at a gym and there was a woman there talking about how she had let her cat get pregnant because she wanted her "kids to have the experience of seeing the kittens born." I wanted to ask if she was also going to take her kids to the animal shelter and let them watch kittens get euthanized, because that's what happens when people breed animals irresponsibly.

You're doing the responsible thing. Rather feel a little bad about it than trying to locate a good home for the litter of unexpected pups.

You may think taking the sex drive out of an animal is selfish, but so is raising cows, pigs, and chickens inside terrible conditions and then slaughtering them for food. Just curious as to are you a vegan or not.

What I think? No, neutering a dog isn't cruel or selfish. Just like how you use a condom to not have babies, you neuter dogs so you will have less pups to take care of. And plus you're not killing them, you're just taking out their balls or ovaries.

I have never fix my dog or dogs.....I had a trainer tell me that dogs that are
being fix are the breeds that do not have issue....the ones not being fix are PitBulls
Rottweilers etc.

That's a bunch of hogwash. My dog has been in heat several times and naturally keeps herself very clean. She had 2 litters. I didn't have any problem finding good homes for her 1st litter and I didn't sell them cheap.

Her 2nd litter is a month old and all 4 pups are healthy and beautiful. I think her character developed to be a better and even more loving dog than she was, before she became a mom. litter4.jpg

Think for yourself and don't make anyone discourage you from what you want in your own life.

it's not a hat, it's a cone and they only have to wear it for about week/2 tops.

LOL, yes I agree. My dog outgrew it in three days and had to remove it. Watched his reaction and never licked her stitches.

Most forget that our domestic dogs are here for one reason only.

To make them happy, To have them neutered is the right thing to do as will avoid confrontations with other horny dogs.

thinking like that is probably why you're in constant battle with everyone and everything around you...maybe if you picked your battles to the really important issues then you'd lead a much happier life?

Just because YOU had no trouble getting rid of the pups doesn't mean everyone will have the same experience. If the OP doesn't plan on having pups, or know how to market them etc, and doesn't ever want pups, then getting the dog fixed is the responsible thing to do.....

There's arguably MILLIONS of dogs currently alive that need good homes, why bring more into the world?

Oh yeah, why, BECAUSE YOU WANT TO.......but as the saying goes, just because you want something doesn't mean you should get it......

Fire your trainer.

You take advice from a guy who gets paid to tell you how to exercise? lol....How about talking to people who are trained to take care of all the unwanted pets? like vets, or those working in animal shelters, etc etc.....

Oh fuck off. I've owned 4 females and they've all left a mess around the house. Tell me WHAT BREED is your dog. If its a "purse dog" then what you say makes sense and I'll believe you, if its a St. Bernard or a Newfie I'll declare bullshit.

tboy....yes I do take advice from my trainer but I thought we where talking pets ...... So I also listen to the logic of the Dog Trainer for my dog ...She said there is so much inbreeding now that the dogs are having issues.....that we are fixing the breeds that are calm etc ....but Pits and Rotties etc.....So yes I listened to her and read up.....

There are so many for adoption.....I do my best to donate but I also have not breed my dog or dogs before
or now.....He is part of the family as is the damn cats we rescued......

Well I guess you gotta believe me: my dogs are a small breed.

On the other hand a large breed dog such a sT. Bernarnd or a Newfie is not meant to live in the house, they are considered outdoor/working dogs. So if you ever kept one of those dogs in a small confined space; I'd say shame on you!
