There are grey areas here, MAL, it's not a simple case of the women were telling outright lies, as you are saying. Ghomeshi himself confessed to being into BDSM activities, in a Facebook posting, even before the trial ever began. Even amongst a group of permissive-minded hobbyists and service providers like in this forum, BDSM is a very weird concept that most of us find unfathomable. So the fact that he hit or choked or did whatever to these women is without a doubt true, because he confessed to them himself.
Where the grey starts is whether it was consensual or not. Each and every single one of these women attempted to get back in contact with Ghomeshi, even after he supposedly assaulted them, to go out on further dates with him. They wrote him love letters, and sent him sexy selfies, and what not after their supposed assaults. Now a lot of BDSM enthusiasts always mention that this is only role-playing to them, and that they take a lot of precautions not to actually injure somebody during these sessions. Perhaps Ghomeshi took these precautions too, and we don't know about it, because he himself never took the stand to defend himself and explain his side of the story. That's perhaps for the best from his defence point of view, as the witnesses and accusers self-destructed so badly, that they didn't need to put him on the stand. But we lost the chance to hear his story.

I disagree with you on this.
A guilty person can be found not guilty based upon the evidence.
Evidence must eliminate the doubt of guilt and often does not meet that goal.
In some cases it does not mean innocence but rather it means just that Not Guilty based on what was presented.
