Actress Zoe Kazan came forward with details of an encounter with Jian Ghomeshi after he was acquitted of sexual assault charges on Thursday.
Ghomeshi claimed his encounters with the women accusers were all consensual. Ontario Court Justice William Horkins concluded that the complainants' stories were inconsistent and found a presence of reasonable doubt.
The verdict was upsetting to many, including protesters who stood outside the courthouse with signs which read, "Rape is Rape," and "Stop Victim Blaming¥WeBelieveSurvivors."
The hashtag also trended on Twitter, and Revolutionary Road actress Kazan joined in on the conversation by sharing her thoughts, detailing an encounter with Ghomeshi three years ago.
Kazan tweeted: "Not that I need personal experience to believe the women accusing Jian Ghomeshi, but let me say this: in 2013, Ghomeshi interviewed me... Before we went on air, he told me I was 'just his type... Funny, sexy, just the right amount of damage,' he said (after talking abt (about) 3 mins).
"This within the context of a professional interview, with producers in the room. I was shaken, but tried to hide it. Gotta be game, right? Later he showed up party I was at & wdnt (wouldn't) leave me alone. His unwanted attention made me feel like I'd 'asked for it'. I felt dirty & sad."
She continued, "I think of the way he made me feel, without ever laying a hand on me, and I tremble with rage for the women who were denied justice today. This behavior is insidious, but so is a culture that condones it, by turning a blind eye, or shaming the victim. We internalize these mores... I thought it was just me when it happened I thought, what's wrong with me? what did I do to make this person treat me like that?"
Author Kelly Oxford responded to Kazan to reveal she also had a similar encounter with Ghomeshi, tweeting, "this is exactly how I felt after my interview with him in 2013. Exactly."
Ghomeshi, who is free on bail, will face another charge of overcoming resistance by choking at a trial in June.

How traumatic. A woman was flirted with by a man.

Call the 'FEELINGS' Police.

Some guy said she was 'his type'. Oh, the horror.

I'm now starting to wonder if Bill Cosby is maybe innocent too

He is until he is found guilty. That's what the standard of the law is, even if it isn't the standard of Twitter.

Didn't Cosby admit he drugged and took advantage of his victim in court. Wait it was sealed......nevertheless we are entering in adangerous precedent by accusing and judging people of crimes via social media instead of the court system. Then again the court system has many flaws but it is a lot more reasonable than Twitter or any social media out there.

Why does anyone lie? They seem some pleasure or benefit from it.

Do you really think people don't lie often throughout their lives? Are you that stupid?
Of course I know people lie......DUH!!

But having 3 different girls teaming up and falsely accusing some guy of sexual assault is a new for me. I hope this isnt some trend that catches on

Let me rephrase, I hope Bill Cosby isnt being falsely accused by all these women

It's too bad the Americans don't follow Canadian news, otherwise this would be a very applicable to their own case of a famous man being falsely accused.

Despite the fact that people say, "where there is smoke, there is fire", sometimes where there is smoke, that's all there is, no fire.

Or better put, sometimes its all just smoke and mirrors

Ghomeshi case shows need for change | GOLDSTEIN | Toronto & GTA | News | Toronto

In the wake of the acquittal of Jian Ghomeshi on four counts of sexual assault and one of choking, a cry has gone up from some lawyers and women’s rights advocates that the system for trying such cases needs to be reformed.

But how? Especially since there is widespread agreement that, given the evidence, Judge William Horkins had no choice but to find Ghomeshi not guilty.

So what do the critics want?

Are they talking about lowering the standard of proof in sexual assault trials to less than “proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” the high standard required because typically the accused faces prison if found guilty?

Do they want us to substitute the lower standard of proof in civil trials, “the balance of probabilities,” but only in sexual assault cases, which would be unjust?

Yeah, lets change "innocent till proven guilty". That would make it even easier for false accusers to ensnare guys they hate and want to destroy.

Way I see it we need a new law. Any woman who knowingly falsely accuses some guy of rape must be sentenced to the same time in prison that the guy wouldve gotten.

So in this case Lucy D. and company should all receive 5 years in jail. No mercy!!
They've destroyed Ghomeshi's life now. It will be very hard for him to come back. Plus he's out a million or 2 dollars (or whatever his lawyers cost)

I always wonder in some cases where some people have gone out of their way to lie and destroy innocent people and yet get away without being charged nor jailed.

Oh, and before anyone gets the wrong idea, guys who actually do rape women you should be shot and pissed on (metaphorically speaking). You deserve a lengthy prison sentence and any consequent jailhouse beatings that might follow

How is he going to gt another job even if he has been cleared from wrong doings?.

How is he going to gt another job even if he has been cleared from wrong doings?.

I think in his case, he's probably made enough money now that he can become the producer of some show, rather than being the host. It'll keep him suitably out of the public spotlight while memories fade, and then he can go back in front of the mike again.
