Seriously, we all have mortgages, kids to feed and send to university. Parents to take care of, credit cards bills to pay plus line of credits. Then the miscellaneous phantom extra expense that appears every month. Name it and it is what it is.

Lately I cannot sleep at night why I want to stay away from the boards. Plus negative on sleeping pills. How do you guys deal with the every day pressure in life?

Good question but no answer is right. Sounds to me you are going through what I went through.

Don't burn out, not healthy at all. I have a long story to tell but do not want to bore you all.

Rum

Seriously

We all have problems at work and at home the trick is to be able to separate the two

I'm terrible at sleeping so don't really have any advice, just lots of sincere sympathy. :aww:

I only really probably get between 4-5 good hours per night despite my best efforts.

I'm going to give hypnosis a try too see if I can tap into my unconscious mind. Maybe source out the root of my restlessness.

I'm with bosco, usually 4 - 5 hrs at best. Then I burn out around 3 pm everyday. I tend to "hit the wall" at 2....I've tried good pillows, softer mattress, all sorts of things. It isn't stress so much as I just can't sleep that much all at once.

When I lived in the city it was the noise and light pollution. Now where I am it is pitch black and dead quiet so while I can get to sleep easier, I don't sleep any longer.

When I do have a lot on my mind it is falling asleep I have trouble with. If I am worried about something I try meditation like "concentrating on imagining a show covered field surrounded by trees. I try to imagine all the little bushes, tree branches, snow drifts in great detail....that often does it.

playing classical music helps a lot getting me to sleep, and massages from a RMT.

I try to sleep 7 to 8 hours most nights. Sleeping is one of my strengths.

I used to sleep 7 hours a night. For about the last 6 months I've slept 5 hours one night then none the next. So we're talking 2.5 hrs a night. Sort of.

it sounds to me like you are letting your daily thoughts occupy your mind and it keeps you awake. This happens to me a lot as I have a very stressful job. Here is what I do,I have three very obvious thought trains that I force myself to focus on..

one is I play golf in my mind. I picture the tee block, I look up the fairway and visualize where I want my shot to go, tempo my swing in my mind and hit the ball. then I do the same for the next shot.....

another one is I remake conversations with everyday people like for example meeting a girl in a bar and trying to pick her up, or talking with my brother about fishing or something as far away from the everyday stuff as possible.

the last one is to write a book as I lay there, I have a few plot lines that I like and I work out the details in my mind.

the forced thoughts fade out the worrysome thoughts and i always drift off to sleep ..

I hope this help...

3-4 hrs per night. 12hrs per night if I'm on vacation.

Why, what are you doing for the other couple of hours?:gasp:

I kind of do the same thing as Skiierman to fall asleep but with a little twist. I imagine I am a worldly immortal superhuman that can do and have anything I want. I change the story up often but it always helps me doze off into a nice deep sleep. I usually am able to get a good 6 hours or more.

I have read that as we age, we require or get, less and less sleep....Maybe that's because subconsciously we realize that are time is running out and we don't want to spend it sleeping?

Even when I was young I couldn't sleep the day away....My brother was/is the exact opposite, he can sleep 20 22 hrs straight without batting an eye....(one of the reasons he got kicked out of highschool, never could get up).

Usually about 6 hours. But lately, I've been feeling exhausted and my eyes get heavy around 9pm. It's stress, at home and at work. It's one of the symptoms of depression, so I'm trying to keep my spirits up by keeping busy and doing things. Anyone for paintball?

I'm up for it, but only if Melanie does the painting and uses a really soft brush!!! (and she doesn't use BLUE paint).
