Well I have kept my mouth shut on this for long enough!
I was moved beyond belief when this tragedy occurred and I certainly don't want to cast any disrespect to anyone except those involved in what I believe is a cover-up!

First you can all go and look at the photos of the accident and can all clearly see that the Bus impacted the Truck. The Truck should not have been broadside in the middle of the intersection. I have heard all about the sun and it was a bright day. Blah! Blah! Blah!
Why have no charges been handed out?
Why has the name of the driver not been made public?
Is the Driver still in the country or does the RCMP even know?
Why was a driver with that little training allowed to drive trains?
Something is very fishy about this accident and the longer it takes the worse it smells!

Just my opinion on a very tragic accident. I road these team busses for 15+ years and had some close calls but I cannot help but wonder "what if"

I have a lot of questions also, but appear to have a different understanding about what happened.

I thought the transport driver blew through a stop sign and broad sided the buss.

On first thought, %100 the transport drivers fault, but don't we think that if the school buss driver sees the transport not slowing down preparing to stop, would mean, don't proceed, this is his profession, having said that, still unfortunate he lost his life..

Generally I'm one person driving with maybe one additional, but I ALWAYS assume the other driver is going to do the wrong thing.

Just to set the record straight just plain facts
Yes the transport blew a stop sign.
No he did not hit the bus! The bus slammed into him
You can see in the accident photos the truck is laying on its side and the front of the truck is clearly visible with NO DAMAGE!
The intersection is a rural crossroad with a stop sign for the truck!
The intersection has a house on the corner and has tall evergreen trees along the side. The traffic from that direction would have been hidden to the bus and likewise the truck would not have seen the bus.
This is a typical intersection for that type of road.
The facts that are known is that this driver was hired and given virtually no training or anyone riding with him to see if he could handle this type of rig. This is stated by the owner of the trucking company.

Yep. I was wrong, it happened the other way around.

But my point still stands that the buss driver is still partially at fault, your profession is driving a vehicle with 20 people on board, who's lives depend on you doing the best job you can.

I have a feeling you disagree with me, that this is %100 the transport company and drivers fault.

In any case, the transport companies owner should be nailed to the cross, but unfortunately this sort of thing goes on everyday.

This is Canada, this is why we are not a backward country, we have rules and laws that must be followed.

@ROBERTSON
You bet I disagree with you on the part of the bus driver being partially at fault.
With our current driving laws a Coach bus does not have to stop when he has a level crossing and the right of way.
We have very differing licencing requirements in different provinces. But Accountability and Criminal Negligence is still a factor for the owner but I have a sneaking feeling this is going to get white washed for other reasons.
Just look in Ontario at the number of big rig accidents every day on the 4 series hwys
We seem to have taken the professional driver out of the seat and replaced him or her with a low budget ill trained jockey.

Neither one of is was there, and I never indicated he was required to stop, but I am still of the belief that the buss driver should have been more aware of circumstances, and could have at least possibly reduced the damage.

On everything else, agreed.

Well now that the bugs are gone from the site I would like to respond to our last post on this topic!
For the record the STOP sign that the truck driver failed to stop at is what indicated he should have stopped.
I am very interested in your theory and statement "about the bus driver should have bee more aware of circumstances and could have at least possibly reduced the damage."
Would you please expand on this comment about how and what the bus driver could have or should have done?

Simple, do NOT assume the other driver is going to do the right thing, I never assume some one is going to stop were required, not move over into my lane etc.

If you don't have a good line of site, even more so.

But that should be especially true for buss drivers.

I have avoided lots of "accidents" that would have NOT been my fault.

Tail gaiters are a good example of drivers assuming, unfortunately frequently with them paying for an accident that could have been avoided.

But hey, we have "no fault" insurance, makes things much safer.

Fawk, I'm so glad that I voluntarily gave up my drivers license in 2003.

I am speechless at your response!
Your first sentence " Simple, do not assume the other driver is going to do the right thing. I never assumes someone is going to stop!
So with that theory you must stop or drastically slow down at all intersections that you have the right of way at. Like for example a Hwy that has cross roads with stop signs for the lesser road you would slow down or stop to make sure he is going to stop. Gee it must take you a long time to get anyplace. And how many accidents would you say you cause with this action of yours?
Second sentence. "if you don't have a clear line of site, even more so. Wow so you would stop at all cross roads that you are not able to see crossing oncoming traffic.
Simply unfreaking believable.
Third sentence "But especially true for the buss driver"
So with this logic all Buses should stop at all intersections. Can you please tell me any country in the world that this the law or practiced.
Forth sentence " I have avoided lots of "accidents" that would have not been my fault" Like I said above. How many have you caused?
Fifth sentence I think your missing a few word in your points that your trying to make. Your statement make no sense.
Sixth sentence "But hey, we have "no fault" insurance, makes things much safer.
The only thing that would make things safer is not allowing you to ever drive.
But I am also convince by your comments in other threads that you say things to just get a reaction from people and stir the pot just for shits and giggles.
The point you fail to understand is when someone makes a comment or posts a thread we are trying to start an intelligent discussion not be a launch pad for buffoons to piss all ver t thread with idiotic comments.
If you don't have anything to add that is constructive to this thread I would appreciate it if you just sat silent.

For fuck sakes DILLI, if you don't understand what being an intelligent driver means, maybe you should NOT be driving.

Once again idiot, I have never stated that the buss driver should have stopped.

If you don't understand accidents can be avoided by assuming the other driver might do the wrong thing, which is intelligent driving, please let me know what part of the GTA you drive, I'll make sure I avoid that area.
I guess you have never seen an accident that could have been easily avoided by smart driving, but I guess one would have to be observant for that, right DILLI

Let me explain this to you, If you can avoid an accident that would have been cause by some loser running a red or not stopping at a stop sign, that is a good thing, get it, probably not though.

So you still think that it was impossible for the buss driver to have reduced the damage done in that accident.

Thank god you are not a buss driver, but I think one would have to have at least average intelligence, so that would leave you out.

Just another loser who can't handle some one having a different opinion, being caught simple minded, and starts stamping your feet and holding your breath, didn't your mommy tell that is bad ?

So can we please put this thread back to what it was originally started for!!!
I believe we have some ort of a cover-up happening in Saskatoon.
I have my own ideas as to what and why but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same or has a different idea

@DILLIGAF, I don't think there's a cover-up. There's going to be a lot of litigation going forward, once all the evidence is sorted out. The owner of the trucking company has already been identified by his own name and his company's name. Also, the age and lack of experience of the driver, has already been well reported in the media.

@Winslow
I agree with you that the name of the trucking company and the owner of the company have been identified.
The person who has not been identified is the driver of the truck at the time of the accident

Seems funny that his name has not been released to the press or the public
Why is the press not seeming bloody hell to get that juicy tidbit of news like they scream at other times.
Yes I agree it is going to be a very big ligation on this one. I also believe that they are scrambling to pin part of the blame or onus of liability on the bus driver to lesson or spread the claim out over as many parties as possible.
This is the point I am trying to make.
I have never seen or heard of a crime scene being hushed up like this before. So who is running this? The RCMP or the insurance companies?
Just my opinion

Yes, I agree with you that it is very puzzling that the name of the bus driver hasn't been released yet.

IMHO, this Humboldt disaster, kind of reminds me, of the lac Megantic rail disaster. Similarity, is that there will also be a lot of moving parts to the eventual litigation of the Humboldt disaster.

Regarding the thread, agreed.

I don't really think there is/was a cover-up, except an effort to reduce the possibility of racist incidents.

Which would be a smart pre-emptive move by authorities.

My take is that all facts/names will eventually be made public during the trial.
