Hunting Season .....

Lets watch a video and then discuss the merits of hunting.

After watching this, if you look at the fallen deer as food you're for it but on the other hand if you feel really bad for the fallen buck then you're against it.

I personally think if you hunt and you eat the catch it's fine. It's been going on since the beginning and it's the way of the wild.

The Game Wardens have a lot of power as they should and if they catch anyone breaking the rules, trust me the fines are very harsh.

I find that people get up in arms about Hunting but it is ok to eat
cows etc that they do not kill.....If your really see how these
creatures are killed .....So I think putting a video up on the slaughter of cows, pigs, chickens
and if you have no issues in watching it then you are ok and if you do have an issue, you are against it...

ok, like always, there is a couple of flaws to your logic:
1) pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, they are domesticated animals and raised to be slaughtered for food. That's one BIG difference between your analogy: livestock vs wild game
2) when livestock are killed, they are killed in as humane a way as possible. There is NO sufferring (or little suffering). Often times hunters will shoot a deer, or buck, and miss the head, merely wounding it and then they follow the blood trail until they find the carcass. Often they lose the trail and the animal goes off to die in the woods...sorry, that is NOT humane in the least.
3) Yes, I have seen a documentary called "our daily bread" and it shows how livestock are killed, butchered, and prepped for food....it's an eye opener, I suggest you watch it...heck, I suggest EVERYONE watch it....
4) If someone were to raise deer for venison, then fine, I'm good with that. But animals in the wild have to endure a lot more hardships than livestock, it's a fight for survival, if an animal can survive, and grow, then they deserve to live and die in the wild, not by someone with a long gun.

I ask you again: how many times have you been hunting? Have you ever put your face to the stock of a long gun and sighted on an animal and pulled the trigger? Then walked up to it while it is writhing on the ground in agony, looked into its eyes and put another round in it's head?

If you haven't then, you know what I'm about to say......

Oh yeah, one more thing: I work with a LOT of hunters....and I mean hunters, not wingnuts with a gun. They support the MNR, fish and game, are excellant shots, and won't take a shot unless they are guaranteed a kill shot......one shot, dead. No suffering. They appreciate the animal and all use the meat for food. They are not like many/most hunters who go out and blast away at anything that moves...

Some even bow hunt because they say it's only fair...........

tboy....I stated at the start of the thread I do not hunt....I was married to a hunter and his family...
even is mom hunted......

Killing an animal is killing an animal....does not matter if it is wild or domesticated....There is the death of an Animal.....So if you want to live in a fantasy world and think that domesticated animals death is gentle and calm well I think you should watch the videos again.......the animals all know they are heading to the slaughter...they can smell it ....and in some cases see it.....Like I did not watch documentaries too.

A deer has a chance, it is not lead up a gang way with other nervous scared deers...smelling blood and hearing the sounds of animals that did not die right away.....

My ex's family used every part of the deer....and they never threw out meat......they respect what they shot and took great care in tracking an injured animal...

So I may not have answered the way you feel I should have answered but it my answer....
If you do not care for it well debate with yourself.......

And Yes his family support the MNR and they also Bow Hunt .......
Not only that they also watch for illegal Hunters....and help the RCMP ....
So I have been around deers hang in the front yard of their place, and so on...

"killing an animal is killing an animal".......you just reinforced my opinion of you....

Seriously, that's like saying a person dying of old age is no different than a person dying of lou gehrig's disease.....

Until you've actually hunted and shot an animal, you know nothing about it......

I have no problem with actual hunters but do have one with trophy hunters.

I chose not to hunt because I find it easier to buy my meat pre-cut.

I will however hunt if that becomes necessary.
I do not consider it sport but do consider it harvesting.

Tboy, I'm assuming you are a vegetarian based on your comments? If you are I'm impressed because I am. I've been trying to convince Brent to stop eating meat but he enjoys his steaks too much.

so if we do not eat all the animals raised for food............what do we do with them????
wipe out the species?

well, that's a whole nother ballgame....but a quick answer is: don't raise them. Livestock is bred to produce more livestock, all you have to do is stop breeding them. Just remember: millions of acres of rainforest is wiped out every year to provide grazing ground for cows to produce hamburger for those big macs that everyone enjoys....just like millions of acres of our forests were wiped out to provide grazing ground.

Yes, I'm vegetarian but not for any political or right to life reasons. I really don't have a problem with animals being raised for food....because any farmer will tell you (most) respect the animal because if he doesn't, he loses money.

Now once again, I'll repeat: the ONLY reason they still allow hunting of certain species is because WE have messed up the natural order of things and if we didn't, many of the deer population would simply starve to death due to lack of available food. If we hadn't wiped out natural predators like wolves, mountain lions/cougars etc and their numbers were at the natural level, there wouldn't be enough deer around to hunt.

This is a good example: turkey hunting has been halted up here for years due to a sharp decline in their population. This past year however they are flourishing....so much so that just about once or twice a week, I have to stop on the secondary roads to wait while a flock walks across the road. They are everywhere now...I hear them in the bushes all the time around my house....

As for trophy hunters...I say if you think you're so good, a great white hunter, instead of shooting an animal from miles away with a high powered rifle, hunt each other.......

tboy, why would I care what you think of me....When the thread is about
Hunting....If you do not care for it, has I learn from somebody...

" Here is the Door, leave":wink2:

Papa, I agree I do not like Trophy Hunting.....

funny, the friday before thanksgiving weekend we had to stop and let a flock pass, I said to the guys riding with me: what the fuck are we doing? there's a free turkey right THERE lol.....

Bliss: until you actually kill something yourself, stfu already because you know not of what you speak......unless you're one of the knobs who prefer to let someone else do the dirty work and reap the benefits?

I counter with this: have you even SEEN someone shoot an animal, skin it and prep it? I bet you haven't.......

I'm calling the bullshit card on this......

and I NO longer hunt you twit.....after seeing an animal in agony after even a well placed shot made me realize what a barbaric practice it is. If you don't see that you're an unfeeling idiot.

I bet you also endorse shark finning, killing bears for their gall bladder and rhinos for their horns...I bet you also get wet watching the scene in dances with wolves where the white men killed all the buffalo and left their carcasses for the vultures, only taking their hides.....leaving the natives to starve......

that's right, and after watching it in real life, I bet you wouldn't condone hunting any longer.....

BTW bliss, I saw a bald eagle today at work, I bet you wouldn't think twice about blasting it out of the sky, as long as you got to eat the drumstick.......
