Surprised?

President Barack Obama has been named Time magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2012.
"We are in the midst of historic cultural and demographic changes, and Obama is both the symbol and in some ways the architect of this new America," Time editor Rick Stengel told NBC's Today show, where he announced the selection on Wednesday.

The short list for the honor included Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who was shot in the head for advocating for girls' education, as well as Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Italian physicist Fabiola Giannati.

Obama also received the honor in 2008, when he was president-elect.
In an interview with Time, Obama said his re-election "may have been more satisfying a win than 2008."

"We've gone through a very difficult time," Obama said. "The American people have rightly been frustrated at the pace of change, and the economy is still struggling, and this president we elected is imperfect, and yet, despite all that, this is who we want to be. That's a good thing."

Last year, Time honored "The Protester," citing dissent across the Middle East that spread to Europe and the United States, saying the protesters reshaped global politics.
Time's "Person of the Year" is the person or thing that has most influenced the culture and the news during the past year for good or for ill. In 2010, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg received the honor.

Other previous winners have included Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, Bono and President George W. Bush.

Can't believe he got reelected having the highest unemployment rate in USA history. Now he is man of the year

Look around the world. It's all relative.

What did Tim Cook do to deserve consideration?

What did Tim Cook do to deserve consideration?

He doubled Apple's profit share after Steve Jobs passed away. Really so what, the person of the year should go to those that do good for humanity. What did Obama do?.

Obama took out Bush and Bin Laden, for that alone he deserves an award!!

It was Seal Team 6, Obama was the arm-chair quar****ack:wink2: Glad both are gone though.

I think Katy Perry's boobs should be the persons of the year!

Bloody Marvellous!:biggrin2:

He didn't actually take out Bush.

Dubya was already past his stale date.

However, Obama did protect the world from McCain and Romney.

Obama deserves the award. I can't imagine what he's had to put of with over the past 4 years simply because he's black. He managed to survive it with grace and poise despite having to deal with those racist tea party assholes. As for McCain, I like the guy but he lost me when he picked the bimbo from Alaska and, in the process, legimatized those tea party assholes. As for Romny two words suffice for him-BOUGHT and PAID for by the idiot rich.

Politics are a strange thing

First time he was elected he won the Noble Peace Prize

Well they could not give him that again so they figured if man of the year was a good way to honor hitler (and we know how that turned out) than Obama would appreciate it too.
