Phone upgrade

I've been using an iPhone 3GS for the last 3 years now, and I'm eligible for an upgrade. I'ld just like a bit of advice.

I'ld be looking at either the iPhone 4 or 5, or the new galaxy. (I a geek)

First, I'm not married to Apple, so... Mostly I use my phone for emergency calls, calls from the road, checking mail, and browsing. Though the latter two I tend to mooch wifi networks to do.

I don't watch a whole lot of videos, or stream media, and I don't pack alot of apps either. (YouTube and angry birds)

Personally, I'm thinking it would be an enjoyable little tech fix, but really wouldn't be worth my time and money to upgrade. Your thoughts?

the Galaxy is the hot phone now.

Android tends to have more apps available.
I noticed this with my IPAD several of the usable apps I have on my phone (work related) are not available for the IPAD.

Another thing I will note is my IPAD will not recognize the Bluetooh on my phone (EVO 4g) and has no fix.

Price wise there's not much of a difference either.

What I'm really ask, though, is it worth the time and expense to upgrade, given what I do and don't use.

I'm of the school that believes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" does your current phone still work? does it do everything you want it to? does it cost you x amount of dollars to use it? if the answer is NO to any of the above, don't bother.

If you do, you're just buying into the hype of the tech companies that are trying to convince you that your life would be better with the latest and greatest....like all the other lemmings out there.

BTW: I heard on the radio this week that someone took apart the new mini ipad to see what it was all about.....know who made the screen? samsung.....even though apple and samsung are embroiled in a bitter legal battle over patent infringements......

Strangely, I agree with tboy, why replace it if it ain't broke? Each successive generation of iPhone seems to have added features, but also headaches. The 4 & 4S had bad reception problems, 5 has a crap mapping system, etc.

I would go with any Android phone over any Apple phone, if I had to upgrade. Also if you can wait, looks like the Blackberry 10 phones look like they could be pretty hot, look nothing like existing BB phones.

Is This the First BlackBerry 10 Phone?

Ooooop, I should've waited. That blackberry does look good. I'm finding with the Android sending and receiving emails is not as efficient as blackberry was!

I like the convenience of having my phone and tab on the same platform. I preferred my torch and bold over iPhone, but I strongly prefer the iPad over play book. Since rim sucked balls and delays their bb10 phones til next year, I'm now on iPhone too.

I've heard that the next gen BB are game changers, so I may well go back to BB or take one for personal vs work.

I do tend to agree with you, tboy. For the most part it does everything I need it to. But sometimes, like when typing a response here, it can be a bit clunky and slow.

Really, I don't think it's worth the trouble to upgrade, but there is no harm in getting others' opinions. Beside, one has to spring for a new toy now and then.

I was hoping for one of the board nerds, Dreamblade, would have popped in.
