Sex-crime victim could be jailed for tweeting her attackers' names

The key to not being a victim is to not take part in actions or activities that put you at risk......and as much as it pains me to say it, but getting drunk and passing out isn't a very "safe" practice. Less of course you take precautions beforehand...such as: locking yourself in and making sure only someone you trust with your life has the key......

However the key to learning is learning from your mistakes. We as a society should allow young kids to make those mistakes and grow from them without getting raped in the process. The age old problem with this whole story is the lack of penalties for the people who committed the crime. Penalties and punishment should be corrective . What are those kids learning from their mistakes. As you said earlier the crown protected the rights of the criminals more than they protected the victim.

Hey... It's 7:30 aren't you supposed to be off the grid, or out in Parry Sound acting as a volunteer fireman.

I am new here but I am sorry to say this Bazerko but that's a terrible thing to say about the victim. She should not be crucify for joining the "wrong crowd" nor drinking. Perhaps you need to understand that the "attackers" don't discriminate. They attack all kinds of people including from the right crowd.

Sun, the attackers are merely kids who thought they could get away with it.... the only thing that fixes these things is to not let them get away with it. If you were raising a small child and the child wanted to wander onto a hiway you would grab the child and unmercifully drag him or her away from harm. These boys are very little different, if they believe that they can get away with things like this the law needs to yank them back to the real world.

p.S Baz is a little whacko, don't tell him but I am pretty sure most of us feel the same way.

so you agree, she should learn ny her mistake........nice to see you're on the same page as baz and I

Chris Klein, an attorney for one of the boys, said publicizing their names may create problems for them in the future.
"There's always that possibility and in any type of scenario like this you run that risk," he said. "Now whether both these boys can overcome those hurdles, it's too early to determine that."

They created their own problems and true justice demands they be held accountable for their actions.

Weird how this attorney was concerned for his clients without making a comment about the victim. If I were an attorney, I would shut the f.... up knowing fully well that those boys did enough damages to their victim which she has to live with for a long time.
Ps. I agree with thesun.

+100

once again the courts protect the guilty and punish the victims....the judge ought to be disbarred.....

Now with all that being said, we don't know the specifics of the case.....what is this sweetheart deal? what exactly did they do?

I mean, when she passed out did they draw black eyebrows on her with a marker? (not like that's ever happened to me before...never heheheh)

For one thing, there are a LOT of other ways to leak their names, she didn't need to do it so blatantly in her name.......now I sympathize with her, she probably got or will get more trouble than she's already gotten but you have to wonder if she let her emotions get the better of her.....i do hope that cooler heads prevail and a judge or lawyer gets her off.....

The judge in this instance is victimizing the victim and should be drawn and quartered!

Err, guys. It's JUVENILE COURT. The proceedings are confidential by law. They are so in Ontario too. And the accused are not hit with the full force of the law because they're, err..... children. Maybe not very nice children, but children nevertheless.

The girl is breaking the Kentucky Juvenile court statute by publishing the perps' names. Hence the fuss. She will get a good talking to by the judge and not much else will happen to her under the circumstances.

Must be a slow news day in KY.

Someone with a law degree. Well said.

Even some juveniles get tried in the adult court. i am just curious how old those boys were. I just think many "late" teenagers tend to take advantage of this legal protection when they break the law.

No question the young lady made mistakes, it happens to most kids at one time or another. that of course does not excuse the kids who took advantage of her.

I make mistakes all the time, this morning for example I dropped a quarter at Tim Hortons. That of course gave the guy behind me the right to grab my ass when I bent over.

They were idiots for posting it online. I'm not saying what they did was right but I'm sure most at the party were intoxicated. It's not the first time a human being feels up another human being when one is passed out. Wrong yes, is it hard to resist when intoxicated, maybe.

We've probably all done things we shouldn't have when we were young and under the influence. These boys will be paying a price for being young and stupid.

Only in Peace's world!!:rofl!:

So lets say she was not drunk but passed out because of a medical reason....still ok for them
to take pics and post them......she is online with pics.......I am sorry, but their names should be on line
also......They get a deal and she lives with this for the rest of her life and when she is older with kids of her own they can see the pics.....people can make up stories.....
It is rape.....and they should not got a deal......We all have done things we should not have, every one of us...even Baz.....What if it is your Daughters and she was there......can not tell me all your kids are truthful where they go......Even Good kids do wrong things.......and Rape is worst then getting drunk and passing out or tweeting about how she feels about these boys doing it....

It's a terrible situation for a young lady to find herself in and I don't envy her or her family. I know some are implying boys will be boys but it's up to the parents to teach their kids right from wrong and what they did here was wrong.

I wish society and parents would put as much effort into teaching boys not to rape as they do teaching girls not to be raped.

You're confusing two entirely different issues....no, you dropping the quarter didn't give anyone behind you the right to do anything.....that's one issue, and the other is "if you threw out your back when you bent over, would you be more careful when doing that the next time"?

You're thinking that by saying that we hope she learned something by her mistake(s) which are: a) drinking underage b) drinking to excess c) drinking to the point where she passed out and d) passing out in an unsecure area that her passing out gave anyone permission to do anything...no one ever said that.

you are confusing two separate and completely different things.......

The way you're acting it seems that you think she SHOULD go out tomorrow and get drunk and pass out yet again.......

Tboy is the only one who understood my intent of the post. I do not blame the young lady but I do question her common sense. I don't ride my bike on the 401 because the chances are I would get hit by a car, I wouldn't walk in the Jane and Finch area waving a bunch of hundred dollars bills and wearing gold around my neck and wrist because the chances are I will be robbed and probably shot. Will the shooter be charged, probably, will the driver be charged, maybe but was I an idiot, YES I was.
