I am no expert on soccer, although I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Anyways, women's groups have coordinated their attacks against men's soccer athletes pay as compared to the women. Women are claiming that the U.S. Women's team generates more money and therefore should be paid AT LEAST equally to men. If this is true, then of course this makes sense.
But, I am suspicious of the womens' side of things. Interest in sports equals money. Money equals better pay for athletes. If women's national team soccer is TRULY more popular and higher earning than the men's side, please explain the attendance number of the men's versus women's professional soccer leagues in North America:
Men's North American professional soccer league attendance (2015):
Major League Soccer (MLS): 21,574 avg., per team, per game

Compared to:
Women's North American professional soccer league attendance (2015):
National Women's Soccer League (NWSL): 5,053 avg., per team, per game

Notice how the men draw 4 times the number of fans per game than women's professional soccer? Yet, the media is perpetuating the story line that women's soccer on a national level in the U.S. is drawing more interest, more revenue and therefore deserves more money. I am not buying the argument put forth by the women's team. Seems not in conjuction with what other numbers would indicate. Maybe the women's team does make more money than the men's national team, but these professional soccer league numbers seem to indicate that such a claim likely isnt true.
You have to watch when women make claims. They often misrepresent for gain.
