Posted by Riley on facebook Weirdly enough I found this because the link was posted on an escort review board. I posted my "story" on one of the boards. they were all happy about the piece but I don't think they truly understand the negative power using happy hooker really does since I am a "survival sex worker". The education from the creators is very lacking. I know sharing my story might make an impact and inspire some people but to make it official to the government when they only see me as a mentally ill lost person who feel into sex work at a young age and used it to grow up an adult isn't going to stick with them.

I am definitely the type this Bill wants to put into the victim box and push into some "save me" program. I am not even sure if writing my own letter to an MP will actually make an impact since most people hear my story and only feel sorry for me unless they are sex workers themselves where they would see me as empowered and brave.

Riley, I'm a little bit confused, do you want to be an escort or no and is anyone besides obviously trying to make a living forcing your to do so?

No condemnation intended in my question, more so to what you would be your end game, your goals and what you want to do if escorting is not your passion?

This is exactly why I am not submitting my story - thanks for giving me the final push I needed to make my decision.

I do not need to explain why I am still doing sex work or what it means to me or what passion I have or don't have.

Do what you need to do and don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do with your body and life.

Some amazing new letters are up!

Send us your letter!! Join the movement against bill c-36!

absolutely right, you need to explain nothing.

Not enough has been heard from sex workers who choose this work freely and willingly. We now have a voice. New letters were added to the site again recently, but we need more! Gentlemen please check out the 'happy hobbyists' letters and submit yours!

I am leery of sending in my story only because I believe the government will not take the voice of a john seriously. Based solely on their clouded and moralistic religious thinking we are the hunters and the sex workers the preys. I do however think hearing from articulate, well spoken sex workers doing and enjoying their careers in this field goes a long way in showing most are not victims.

Heck on some days I come into work and feel exploited by the man, taken advantage of by the system, beat down and boxed into a job I can't stand and other days I'm happy to be working and paying the bills. It is a job like any other in my opinion.

Most people don't like being labelled or categorized, even in a positive way because it feels limiting. Each of us is so much more, but it can be tiresome to explain this.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Right now I am putting my energy into my cam work will be back part-time as a SP as humanly possible.. doing webcam work is the only place right now I can feel like I am moving ahead and keeping my head above water. - hopefully c36 stays out of it since doing porn is legal.

I have come to the conclusion I have to limit myself in the activities against c36. too much involvement will just drain me and then I will be no good to my webcam fans or any clients I get as a SP.

In the last 5 years I have attended way more sex work rights groups they I could possibly imagine. it has definitely broke me out of my introvert shell.

I am labelled on so many things where at one point I was losing my identity, I need to take the time to find myself again. Plus I am already stressed out for some paper work I have to send in to get a certain type of Tax Credit.
