I was picking up my weekly fuel at the LCBO. Bought the usual, paid with credit but didn't want to carry it in a box. Saw their handle bags, only pink ones available but who really cares.

Went to pay and cashier says 95 cents. Dug into my pocket and only had red and brown ones. Damn I said, sorry I don't have change, will have to give you a $50. Dickhead looks at me with a funny look and said to him, do you have a problem and why are you looking at me in such a way. His tuned away without a response.

Hmmmm, he wants to play games I say to myself. Call the manager please I told him. Then all of a sudden he gave me a smile and his attitude left through his asshole. Since it was late and was thirsty I didn't want to prolong this dumb little drama so I just kept my mouth shut.

This 30 something man ahead of me said in a genuine tone, here is a dollar for you. I thanked him and told him thanks but no thanks and that his Karma will go a long way this month.

He made my day.

That's it.

I was at the dollar store; yep, I'm a cheap bastard. This kid in front of me was buying a pack of gum. The cashier told him it was $1.14 or something. The kid had like 85 cents. He was a little dumbfounded but seemed like a nice kid. He didn't know what to do and started to leave. The cashier was looking at him like an alien. I told her to put it on my tab. The kid said "Are you sure? I feel so bad." "Don't worry about it kid, just do the same for someone one day." He hung around for 5 seconds and I said "Kid, you don't have to stick around, just go and enjoy." He thanked me and left.

The cashier said "That was nice thing to do" with a hint of sarcasm. I said "If a dollar changes the kids outlook on life and people, then it was worth it. And a dollar never killed anyone."

Did you give the cashier a piece of your mind for being heartless?.

Lol, I guess I'm a cheapie too, I go to the dollar stores every now and then. Just a few days ago there was a child in line and she too was short on her purchase-1.20 or so, the cashier went to reach in his pocket, and I said it's okay I got it, the child was probably 10-12 yrs old, got mad, never said thanks or anything just took her stuff and left, lol. Some are grateful and some aren't. I'll always reach in my pocket if I'm able, my dad always did, learned it from him I believe:) It is always the right thing, to help someone if you can.

I used to be on such a tight budget that I had to take a calculator with me when grocery shopping, and I know how humiliating it is to stand there while the check out person starts deducting items off the bill.

I always try to step up and pay however much the person in front of me is short. It makes everyone's day when that happens - me, the needy person, the employee, and others standing in line.

:good:

The kid is going to hell.

No, but I guess she thought I was a bit pretentious given my nonchalant attitude towards money LOL.

Ahhh preteen angst. It's so wonderful. I'm grateful for what I have now as I didn't always have it and got help from people who were selfless. Pay it forward.
