The current extremist Islam ideology was pushed towards this direction by endless meddling by the superpowers during the previous century. Though some people will have you believe that the Palestine-Israel issue is hundreds of years old, it's only been an issue since the end of WWII, when the Brits just gave Palestine to displaced European Jews, thinking no one would notice that people were already living there. Prior to this, Islam had no problem with Jews. If anything, it was Christians in Europe that had the biggest beef against Jews.

I don't have a solution to the endless problems of the middle east, but the point I'm making here is that Harper is not helping us with our own reputation. We were much better off under our previous cautious measured foreign policy regime, than we are now under Harper's xenophobic foreign policy. It was due to Harper that we lost the Security Council seat at the UN a couple of years back. And having John Baird as the foreign affairs minister is helping even less.

I totally agree with you. Harper has done nothing but put us in the bulls-eye of the storm.

Assad will use the United States to destroy his ouster in Syria for him. Once this is done Syria and Russia will tell the United States thank you with a smile and tell the United States to leave. This will leave Syria back in the hands of Assad and Russia.

If Obama would have been smart he would have let Syria destabilize itself and let ISSIS take over Syria and then go in and take ISIS out as ISIS would not have been prepared to defend itself. This is a tactical error on Obama and his ego.

Obama will now be forced into giving Syria back to ASSAD. Now, it will get more interesting as Obama will finally figure out the real plan of this and will resist giving Syria back to ASSAD. This is what Putin wants the United States to do. The United Stateswill then be seen around the world as a dictator country and occupier and since this attack was illegal to begin with, the United States will have no recourse legally and Russia will defend Syria for the hell of it. The United States doesn't have the bases necessary in the middle east to confront Russia on its border. U.S. loses this tactical error.
