Twitter Dudes

I suffered the wrath of a "mangina" myself this past weekend on Twitter.

I was joking around with another twitter member about clams and licking clams. It was a harmless joke and no ladies seem to be complaining as it wasn't meant to offend anyone. All of a sudden I'm blocked by a gentleman who sees escorts and was offended about two guys discussing clam licking. WOW.....not that I care...I rather not be followed or want to follow prudes be it male or females. If you do not have a sense of humor and expect other's to walk on egg shells around you I personally have no use for your company or friendship.

Do you think before you tweet or are the tweets spontaneous? In other words, are they a well thought out marketing plan or just a way of venting?

Did you hear that Twitter is planning on banning offensive words from their program?.

How about the whinny guys on Twitter?.

They are not whinny but many are whiteknights agreeing with everything a lady says and personally I think some are ladies pretending to be dudes.

Um... not that I'm aware of. All the regular guys I talk to on twitter have either booked me or seen colleagues of mine so pretty sure they are men. If you see gentlemen being considerate and supportive of ladies when dealing with jerks or trolls in a negative way, well that's just unfortunate.

I believe there are a lot of decent folks on twitter but some twits are so obvious in their intent to regular guys it's sickening. They actually spout off tweets that is obvious they are attempting to endear themselves to the ladies.

Let me give just one example of a pretender [FONT=Arial, sans-serif]@thetawlguy . His advice is as important to us as tits on a bull.

Actually, tawlguy is just restating the obvious, respect the ladies.
You can question his motivation all you want, but his advice is sound.
The nice thing about twitter, you can always mute someone if you don't appreciate their message.

Think AND tweet?! Nobody said I had to do both at the same time! I demand my money back.

O wait... it's a free app that I can choose to use or not as I see fit. Imagine that! :biggrin2:

Actually that guy usually has good things to say. He has never messaged me to waste my time or ask for pics or act creepy in anyway. He goes about his business and tweets his thoughts and experiences. I have zero problems with guys like that on Twitter. He's just saying stuff in general. He doesn't tweet at us to get attention. Many sp's like what he says because it helps to have a male perspective because often we get dismissed being service providers. What does it matter? He doesn't go spouting about how he's the best client ever, or gets great mileage, or gets to bypass screening or get special treatment unlike a lot of review board guys I've seen. He's not using his Twitter for ulterior motives to trick or hurt SP's, yet some guys are so threatened by him. He's not the problem. Trust me.

My tweets are usually advertising, my retweets are sometimes angry, as often they are about animal abuse. I love twitter, you can bypass those who are unimportant to you and rt things and those that are important. As far as guys pretending to be girls and or suck ups, apparently they don't reach my account, as I've not noticed them. :)

Analme makes a big deal about guys that the rest of us don't even see as a bleep on a radar screen as you are making a big deal on twitter about board guys caring about some guy we don't even know.

It really doesn't matter in the scheme of things. Bottom line is as some have already alluded to, you are able to run your business as you see fit and clients are able to book and spend their money as they see fit but please don't lump all gentlemen on boards in the same pot because many of us are also on twitter.

It's just the second time here I've seen someone who doesn't know thetawlguy getting all upset accusing him of being an SP when we have zero proof of that. I prefer to stand up for others when I notice it, and would hope others would do the same for me. It doesn't benefit the community if outsiders or newbies to twitter think that's what's really going on. That's all. None of the other boards rag on that guy except this one which I thought was odd. I'm not sure where you got the idea that all guys are being lumped together.

I avoid booking SPs on Twitter who have a pronounced pattern of complaining about clients.

When you tweet something like this Charlotte, "..that so many review board guys think..", you are extrapolating a conclusion using a post from a discussion thread.

That talwguy just started following me:) and he seems like a lot of fun. I complain too, about clients, here and there, but only when my mouth isn't full:wink2:

That doesn't say all do or you do. But it sure seems true that many do. Hence why we use multiple avenues to advertise and not just review boards in this business. There is some good and bad with every avenue.

Keep in mind there are guys here running to boards to complain about ladies on Twitter in their comfort zone. When stuff like that happens well there's going to be ladies who talk about it on Twitter where it's not controlled by anyone and everyone is free to follow and unfollow who they want. On Twitter everyone has a choice about who they want to read posts from which is a nice perk.
