But they can save lives.

A man has vowed to ‘stop moaning at the dog’ after his labrador-collie mix assured him a speedy recovery following a stroke.

When Arthur McGarvey, 74, collapsed in a field, the dog started barking and running around like he was mad, prompting drivers to immediately stop and investigate.

That quick response may have saved his life, and assured that he would not develop more lasting effects.

Donations and adoption requests are flooding in from around the world for a dog abandoned at a train station in Scotland with a suitcase containing its pillow, food, toy and dish.
The Scottish SPCA has raised $6,875 as of Friday morning for the Shar-Pei cross, named Kai, who was found tied to a railing outside the Ayr station in southeastern Scotland on Jan. 2.

The SPCA said it has been "inundated with lovely messages for Kai and offers of new homes from animal lovers around the world touched by this very sad story."

The money will be used to help pay for eye surgery Kai requires and the rest will go towards the care of other animals.

"We have been overwhelmed with the response and the generosity of people around the world," the SPCA said.

Meanwhile, details have emerged about the woman who reportedly left the dog at the station.
Fin Rayner, 39, allegedly made a deal on an online classified site to buy the dog and met the seller at the train station, she told the Scottish Daily Record.

But Rayner said she discovered the dog wasn't the same as the one in the ad's photo. She alleges that when she took the dog on a walk, the owner took off and left the pooch behind.

Rayner said she panicked, told a staff member she was leaving the dog there and left.

Despite temperatures dipping below freezing, a stray Savannah, Georgia dog has been unwaveringly holding vigil in the graveyard where she buried her deceased puppy. Now everyone is doing what they can to catch her and get her inside.
Hunter Cone, a 15-year-old photographer, was on an assignment to find a specific monument in Laurel Grove North Cemetery when he came across something else instead.

“I was walking through Laurel Grove cemetery… I looked over and saw a dog. I thought it was a statue because it was so still,” he explained to Savannah Morning News. “I looked closer and saw a dead puppy and realized it was a mom mourning the loss of her puppy.”

Hunter and his mother Jennifer brought food and water to her, but she wouldn’t let anyone come close to her or her puppy. Hunter posted photos of her on his Facebook page, and word quickly spread.
