Made with Love

Why they call them curvy instead of fat, overweight and she doesn't take care of herself?

The food we eat isn't the same as it was 50 years ago.
All the crap we feed our cattle stuck in pens all day instead of grazing on grass. Same with caged chickens, pigs, etc.
Look at the ingredients on the groceries, all the corn used now for sweeteners in so many products, it's tough to avoid.
Even food you might think is healthy - a loaf of rye bread. The first ingredient is wheat, wtf?

Genetics does have something to do with how each person processes the calories they take in and how they are used in the body. Yes, it might come down to how many calories you take in and how many you burn off but each person does that differently and many people are ignorant of how it works. I don't think you can just throw all overweight people into the same group and call them lazy. The foods available to us are much different then they were 50 years ago and people don't always know or understand that. Real sugar has been replaced with high fructose corn syrup which isn't processed or perceived the same way by our bodies. I think OldG should take it easy on folks and tone down the Holier Than Thou attitude. Perhaps some people are okay with being overweight. Lot's of people do things that may not be in the best interest of their health, but who are any one of us to tell them that they have to change?!

Live and let live people!

Disclaimer....I'm probably 20-30lbs over weight. Between work responsibilities and family responsibilities, I just don't have the energy to go work out. I often have to eat the quick unhealthy food rather than the healthy food I should. But then again, up until 10 years ago, before various injuries, I was an upper echelon athlete. Maybe now I'm okay with being overweight.

Genetics does have a say in some things, but all cells metabolize at the same rate, regardless of genetics. People blaming genetics for obesity is just another excuse. There is ZERO clinical evidence that metabolism rates differ at the cellular level. Sure, metabolic rates for the whole body vary, based on HOW MUCH YOU WEIGH, how much exercise you get, what kinds of foods you eat, and so on, but the same rule applies for every human on earth: eat more calories than you burn and you will gain weight. Want to stop gaining weight? Eat less calories!

I'm fed up of people using the "my genetics make me eat more" excuse. It's bullshit. They want to eat more, not have to.

True, there is more processing and additives, but some of those are actually good. Blaming the food of today (versus yesteryear) is another excuse. Years ago people ate less on their plate, ate less fatty foods, and exercised more. The food could be exactly the same as today as yesteryear: it's the amount you eat and how much you burn that matters. Not the food itself, really. More excuses...

I've read this thread and contemplated walking away from it but find it just isn't in my heart to do so. Here goes nothing:

I have been every size from 6 through to "WTF WAS THAT". Through thick or thin a few things have never changed:

1. I always was, and always will be facially attractive.
2. I have always gone out of my way to feel good about the person I am in appearance, mind and soul.

I didn't get to my largest because I lacked care and consideration for myself. I didn't get there because of emotional eating, thyroid issues, etc. though there was a health problem which contributed drastically.

Certain medications can have a huge impact upon ones physical state, and when given the choice of taking them and suffering serious weight gain or not taking them at risk of irreparable physical damage and/or death. You take them. One of the most over prescribed miracle pills is a steroid in any form (prednisone is the one most are familiar with) which are a known contributor to weight gain. Some easily take it off when they are weaned off and some do not.

There is no magic pill which will resolve life issues. Not medically, financially, or emotionally. Unfortunately most are required to act like adults in their day to day lives and are expected to learn coping skills. Many in our society cannot and instead of helping those people to do so others will lash out and abuse them in some way shape or form.

oldguyzer I admit that I expect better behaviour from you based on being a retired oncologist (in other words a Doctor should know better). While I agree that most times excuses are just that. In some select situations there is far more to the story.

I am not speaking about the rotund person who wanders along with 12 snacks just for them self at an outdoor event. I am talking about those who are physically active in whatever way their body allows, make an effort to eat healthily, and still struggle. Goodness knows I have met my fair share of those who's only health issue is literally their obesity classification.

I would also like to say that in our society we now go based on BMI which is absolute bunk for a certain percentage of the population. It feels like we are back in the 70's and 80's with the charts made by insurance companies.

Obesity is the last acceptable bias in the world.

You can't slur someone because of their sexual orientation, race, religious beliefs, colour of their skin, socioeconomic status, educational achievements, personal sense of style, or any other aspect of their lives with the exception of the size of their ass.

Aren't we all mature that we feel the need to go back to grade 3 and keep our interactions childish and immature.

As for those who feel the need to define curvy vs. BBW. Let me help you out:

If you can shop in standard clothing stores then you are likely not a BBW.
If you wear a size 14 regular (not plus size) or smaller then you are likely not a BBW.
If your ass fits into underwear from lingerie stores you are likely not a BBW.

All of this said please do keep in mind there are certain components related to proportions which truly affect the way a person is built/appears.

Now if you will excuse me I need to hit the shower and slide my curvy ass into my size Large thong from VS, Large yoga pants which I will have to tighten the draw string as much as I can, slip into my incredibly expensive sports bra which accommodates both my smaller ribs and larger bust, and throw on a top of some type (yet to be determined).

In other words... Let me shake my curvy/fat/non-BBW ass out of this thread and let those who feel the need to fat bash revel in their glory.

Lily

P.S. If I was a BBW it would be more financially advantageous in this industry. Those girls do exceptionally well. Don't kid yourself into thinking everyone wants the woman they are playing with to be slender!

Nicely written and I'd happily lick and play your curvy body!:good:

I'm hoping your sent a letter to Peter Mackay on your feelings about legalizing prostitution as opposed to criminalizing all of us.

The Conservative neocons need to see how well spoken and articulate providers really are!

So you don't want me to come right out and say what most doctors and scientists think, simply because it might offend people? I admit I've taken a bit of an aggressive stance on this thread, but it's for a simple reason: most people can control their eating (and hence their weight) but everyone looks for excuses (genetics, additives, health issues, etc). In the end, they are all excuses. I defy you to point to anyone (without a genuine clinically-recognized health issue) that cannot lose weight by eating moderately and exercising.

Sorry if I offend, but it's the truth. Kinda hard to argue with that...

Just because there isn't a clinical recognition of a behavior now means it doesn't exist? I guess that throughout the history of scientific medical discovery a condition hasn't been identified that was unclassified earlier?

I agree with your reasoning oldguyzer, eat healthy, exercise = lose weight. I guess I am always wondering why someone continues to practice unhealthy habits all the while knowing they are doing themselves harm. I don't subscribe to the blanket "just because they are fat and lazy" diagnosis.

Let me try this another way...

Why do they call them Oldguyzers instead of rude, obnoxious, know-it-alls who want to pass judgements on others when they haven't walked to steps in their shoes, much less a mile?

And you know which miles I've walked and which shoes I've worn...how?

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I am pushing the issue far more than usual simply because people have to realize they have the ultimate authority on their weight and well-being. I am fully aware there are some factors beyond an individual's control, but those are exceptions, not the rule. 1/3 of our population is obese: they don't all have medical issues. But they almost all blame something other than themselves. It makes it easier to rationalize...

Well, now that you mention it, Primo. . .

This would be an interesting time for Baz to chime in about our bodies being sacred, our "Temple of The Lord."

Mind you, I do have faith that oldguyzer can stickhandle his way around that situation.

I prefer the term "swervy" instead of curvy. :wink2:

"Man, look at that babe, she is so swervy!" Oh yeah, fluffy works too! :good:

I've found doctors to be too judgemental and rigid in their thinking because we gave them God-like attributes in the past.
They used to tell us to smoke to prevent influenza. wtf?
:blush2:

I agree most obesity is due to overeating, but there's a lot more to it. Nutritionists still can't agree on an ideal diet, how fucked up is that?

Geezer,

I don't pretend to have a medical degree, but I do have an FIT cert, some university biology and anatomy training, and in 30 years of martial arts training and competition, I have picked up a thing of two. Portions may be greater in some instances, but the amount of processed sugar that is found in today's food is a significant factor. We still don't conclusively know the full impact of GMO's, and we've actually been lied to as to elements like butter in our diets. The entire food pyramid most of us who are 30+ is based on industry lobbyists not on nutritional science. And yes, we lead a more sedentary lifestyle than we did just 20 years ago, but that does not excuse the obesity epidemic the US is facing, at least not on its own.

Cases of MS, fibromialgia, lupus, asthma are on the rise. A common treatment for each of these is steroids. Steroids upset the hormonal balance in the body, and a fit, trim person can find themselves in the body of the Michelin man. Depression, BPD, Bi-polar disorder, CFS are also on the rise. A common coping mechanism is to overeat or indulge in comfort food. In this instance, the expected obesity is a result of a chemical imbalance in the brain (aka illness).

My humble conclusion is that you are Norman Rockwelling, dear sir. The past is not as full of fit people as you claim, and the poor situation we find ourselves in here and now cannot be simply explained by the deadly sins of sloth and gluttony.

Well well, look at who is now being called judgmental, tsk tsk so sad.:biggrin2: To be honest and now that I've given my little back hand shot I do agree with Oldguyzer and believe there is absolutely no excuse to be over weight. It is simply calories in and calories out. It's proven one can eat at McDonald's although I do not advise it but one can eat at McDonald's and not gain weight if done properly because again it is calories in and calories out. We all work, we all have stress in our lives, we all sometimes cannot go to the gym but we can also all control what goes into our mouths. I agree there are no excuses.

The no excuse mantra should also be used for dirty smelly bums.

I remember turning down a client who was over 300lbs. I couldn't bring myself to do it. The agency wasn't happy about it but I knew if I went through with it he wouldn't have enjoyed the session. The mileage is better if you're a gentleman and in decent shape, not perfect just decent.

Smelly bums? Just like bacon

No matter how unrelated to the original post, a reference can pop up gleefully in any thread.
