Well this father did.
[If]I'm disappointed in you as a daughter. You're correct that we have a "shame in the family", but mistaken about what it is. Kicking Chad out of your home simply because he told you he was gay is the real "abomination" here. A parent disowing her child is what goes "against nature".
The only intelligent thing I heard you saying in all this was that "you didn't raise your son to be gay". Of course you didn't. He was born this way and didn't choose it any more than he being left-handed. You however, have made a choice of being hurtful, narrow-minded and backward. So, while we are in the business of [disowning] our children, I think I'll take this moment to say goodbye to you. I now have a fabulous (as the gay put it) grandson to raise, and I don't have time for heartless B-word of a daughter.
[If] you find your heart, give us a call.[/If][If][/if][If]

I love my son...I don't really care if he is gay or straight. Now, if he turns out to be an asshole after all my efforts to bring him up to be a good person...then maybe.
You misleading us, Boing.
What happened is the grandfather has disowned his daughter for disowning her son, his gay grandson.
That handwriting is hard to read, so here's the easy-on-the-eyes version:
Oops thanks Art Mann for clarifying my error.
Like you, my friend, I love my son.
Fortunately he turned out to be anything but an asshole. Bright, funny, hard-working, a totally good person for whom I hold great respect. My best friend, as it turns out, something which never occurred to me as a young parent that the future might hold..
I can't think of anything that would cause me to disown my son.
If he had turned out to be gay that would be fine with me. As long as he understood it would in no way relieve him of his obligation to give me grandbabies.
How would you feel if he was into hard drugs?.
In your case this doesn't surprise me Art.
As they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
You misleading us, Boing.

I would feel sad and incredibly worried, but I would not disown him.
