Selfie deaths outnumber deaths from shark attacks since 2013
Which of these is more likely to kill you: a shark or a photograph?
At least 11 people have died this year while trying to take a selfie, according to a Wikipedia page that tracks media reports of selfie-related injuries and deaths. At least 11 people died while trying to photograph themselves in 2014, according to the list.

By comparison, just three people were killed in shark attacks last year, according to statistics from the University of Florida's International Shark Attack File. An average of six people a year have died from shark attacks in the decade to 2014 and Mashable reports that eight people have been killed in shark attacks so far this year.

She used to be pretty attractive when she was younger, don't know what caused her to snap like this. Check her out in "American History X", for example.

Yeah, I saw an interview with him on CNBC, he was smiling like an evil criminal mastermind. Perfect new James Bond villain.

Scientists break distance record for quantum teleportation

A new record distance has been set for the quantum teleportation of information over optical fibers. Researchers working at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) claim to have transmitted the quantum information carried in light particles over 100 km (62 miles), four times farther than previously achieved.

Breakthroughs in quantum physics continue to accelerate, having already shown the practical potential of quantum cryptography and increasingly making progress toward powerful, everyday, quantum computers. This new record set by NIST adds to this momentum by providing the ability to transmit quantum state information much farther than previously thought practicable.

According to the researchers, this capability was only possible through the advancement of NIST’s own bespoke single-photon detectors made in its laboratory in Colorado. Utilizing superconducting nanowires created from molybdenum silicide, these detectors are so sensitive that they can record the arrival of more than 80 percent of the photons transmitted, even after traveling more than 100 km – unboosted – down an optical fiber.

"Only about 1 percent of photons make it all the way through 100 km of fiber," said NIST’s Marty Stevens. "We never could have done this experiment without these new detectors, which can measure this incredibly weak signal."

Sweet and spicy zombie fish: Bizarre Chinese meal comes back to life AFTER | Daily Mail Online

Served up on a plate, this sweet and sour fish stew had one unusual surprise - the fish appears to still be alive when the hungry customer in China started to tuck into their meal.
The severed head of the dark grey fish sits on the edge of the plate but despite the remainder of its body being turned into stew, the animal appears to move.
The hungry customer uses a pair of black chopsticks to carefully select a small portion of the fish's pinky white flesh, covered in a brown sauce and vegetables causing the animal to twitch.
