Woman sues her 8 year old nephew, jury rejects suit.

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.—A Connecticut jury on Tuesday rejected a woman’s bid to sue her 12-year-old nephew for injuries she says she suffered from his exuberant greeting at his birthday party four years ago.
New York City resident Jennifer Connell claimed the Westport boy acted unreasonably when he jumped into her arms at his eighth birthday party, causing her to fall and break her wrist. She sued him in Bridgeport Superior Court for $127,000.

The Connecticut Post reports that the six-member jury found that the boy was not liable. The newspaper reported that she ignored shouted requests for comment as she passed reporters outside the courthouse.

Connell, a 54-year-old human resources manager, had testified that she loves her nephew but thinks he should be held accountable. She said when the child jumped she tumbled to the ground as she tried to catch him.

“I remember him shouting, ‘Auntie Jen, I love you,’ and there he was flying at me,” she testified.

Connell argued that her injuries severely disrupted her life in Manhattan. She told jurors last week that she was at a party recently, and “it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,” the Post reported.

Her lawsuit said: “The injuries, losses and harms to the plaintiff were caused by the negligence and carelessness of the minor defendant in that a reasonable 8-year-old under those circumstances would know or should have known that a forceful greeting such as the one delivered by the defendant to the plaintiff could cause the harms and losses suffered by the plaintiff.”

The boy, the only defendant, appeared in court with his father, Michael Tarala. The boy’s mother died last year.

'I'm super drunk right now': Woman arrested after live streaming herself alleged
https://www.torontosun.com/2015/10/...treaming-herself-allegedly-driving-inebriated
LAKELAND, Fla. -- "I'm so drunk," a Florida driver repeatedly tells followers on the social media app Periscope, staring at her cellphone's camera, mounted on the dashboard, before she is arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

The Lakeland Police Department released video from the app Tuesday, after the arrest from the weekend made national headlines. In the video, a glossy-eyed-Whitney Beall said that she thinks she's blown a tire and that she's driving very slowly.

Assuming a tone halfway between bemusement and a realization that what she is doing is wrong, she said, "I'm f------ drunk and this is horrible."

"All the way home people, I'm going to be drunk," she said. "I'm super drunk right now, in a place I really don't want to be in."

At one point, the 23-year-old woman said she turned right when she meant to go left.

Parked at a red light, she told her followers to send her any messages and expressed surprise when she saw 57 people were following her. She said one follower told her to keep her eyes on the road.

"I can't even believe I'm Periscoping right now," she said. "I'm not even paying attention to the driving. ... Please supervise me right now because I'm driving super drunk right now."

Other Periscope users urged her to stop driving. Some called the police.

"Let's see if I can make it all the way home, people, without a ticket," she said at one point.

She would not be so lucky. An officer logged onto Periscope and located Beall's car.

Officers said Beall failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test. She was released on $500 bail.

No one answered a phone number Tuesday listed under her name.

FBI agent guilty of assault after shoving teen to ground, threatening him with gun: ‘If I have to shoot you, I will’ (VIDEO)

A veteran FBI agent who was caught on camera shoving a 15-year-old boy to the ground and threatening the teen with his gun has been found guilty of assault.
Gerald John Rogero, 45, was off-duty last December when he meddled into a Maryland family's dispute over a child custody drop-off.
The agent, who knew one of the family members involved, was rebuking a man for being late to drop off his child when a teenager confronted him for intruding.

'Die, die!' Police responding to death threats find 'out-of-breath' man chasing spider

Police in Sydney, Australia believed they were dealing with a case of domestic abuse when they responded to reports of a woman screaming hysterically and a man yelling death threats earlier this week.

But after they arrived on the scene, all police found was one injured spider and one embarrassed man.

Police said they received a number of calls early Sunday morning over a woman screaming hysterically, a man yelling "I'm going to kill you,” "You're dead," and "Die, die!", along with sounds of furniture being tossed around the home.

Upon knocking on the apartment door, police said an "out-of-breath and rather flushed" man answered the door. The rest of their exchange was documented on the Harbourside LAC – NSW Police Force Facebook page.

Police: "Where’s your wife?"
Male: "Umm, I don’t have one."
Police: "Where’s your girlfriend?"
Male: "Umm, I don’t have one."
Police: "We had a report of a domestic, and a woman screaming. Where is she?"
Male: "I don't know what you're talking about. I live alone."
Police: "Come on mate, people clearly heard you yelling you were going to kill her and furniture getting thrown around the unit."
Police said at this point, the man became “very sheepish.”
Police: "Come on mate, what have you done to her."
Male: "It was a spider."
Police: "Sorry?"
Male: "It was a spider, a really big one!"
Police: "What about the woman screaming?"
Male: "Yeah sorry, that was me. I really, really hate spiders."

Police said the man was chasing the spider around the unit with bug spray.

NEWSER) – A Florida woman collapsed while begging to be readmitted to a Blountstown hospital she had just been kicked out of, and ended up dead hours later, theTallahassee Democrat reports. Barbara Dawson, 57, was taken to Calhoun Liberty Hospital via ambulance Sunday night after experiencing stomach pain; the AP says she was also having difficulty breathing. She was admitted, treated, and discharged hours later after hospital staff cleared her.

But she refused to go, and insisted to medical staff she was "still not feeling well," her relatives say. Ultimately, police were called—the local police chief says Dawson "was causing a disturbance in the hospital with her language and the volume of her voice," though her family disagrees—and, after Dawson was arrested for alleged disorderly conduct and trespassing, handcuffed, and escorted outside, she collapsed.

She had been "pleading" for her oxygen tank to be returned because she was still having trouble breathing, family members say, but a nurse insisted her breathing was fine. She collapsed just as a police officer was unlocking his patrol car.

The hospital says staff checked her vitals multiple times and found her to be stable, but a doctor readmitted her anyway, at which time she still had a pulse. But less than two hours later, she was dead, and her family (her aunt was on the scene) has a different story: Relatives say a doctor couldn't detect a pulse before Dawson was taken back inside the hospital, and that hospital staff didn't try CPR until Dawson was back inside.

An autopsy found she died of a blood clot in her lung caused by being excessively overweight. Dawson's family plans to sue the hospital and the police department, but the hospital insists staff "did their best trying to save her." The police department is investigating.
