The challenge I have with your position is that I'm not certain that 'institutionalized oppression' really exists anymore due to the reasons I've stated above. There are indeed legacy residuals of that left over from previous generations, but they are quickly disappearing as human resources turnover continues to take place and younger people grow into the majority.
I agree as well that the world continues to be heavily influenced by 'isolated occurrences', but in most cases, the knee-jerk reactions are by far mostly over-reactions driven by sensationalist antagonists for selfish reasons. 'Outrage' has become a way of life, and as such, loses much of its current day impact. Add to that that common, every day outrage is so prevalent even though its not typically merited on a case by case basis regardless of the media machines that promote it. This is how 'snowflakes' are bred, and not organic by nature.
I can't agree with your assessment that Canada/US are categorically misogynistic, but opinions will vary on that, and will be influenced my many different variables.
I am indeed an educated guy, but that comes from simple hard work - I've been going to university steadily for almost 40 years, some on the same military dime available to
all service members, but mostly on my own dime. I earned all of it, and none of it came from racial privilege, culture, or gender. My financial accomplishments came solely from my own innovative mind and dedication, and were not the result of any social, racial, cultural or gender bias. Today, people like me are the rule, not the exception, and driven by need.
I'm glad you have a thoughtful and insightful opinion, and as a woman have chosen to share it here. I sincerely hope that continues, as I'd like to hear more of same from you.
