What a dumb cop. If any of us suckered punched a woman like that we'd be tied to a stake and burned. He should be thrown in jail and sued.

Lol, it was just a slap.
We don't know what happened to cause a disturbance but the crowd looked unruly to me.
Did she deserved to be hit? No, but why stand around gawking at a combustible situation?

Ps. Boy I feel for the woman. That cop's behaviour was too harsh. I know cops are under a great deal of pressure but that kind of reaction was uncalled for especially being on the receiving end of a few water sprinkles.

You're right bosco, she might have not been the one to sprinkle water on the cops but wtf was she doing anyways? You want to get involved you get involved......Now you have to also agree that a) a cop feels someone throw water on him, b) he turns around and there's someone leaving with an open bottle of water, we'd all think the same thing......
yes, he could have grabbed her by the arm or whatever but it could have been just instant reflex, it's not like he had a lot of time to sit down, confer with his fellow officers, read his hand book and then approach the woman.......
As for curiosity, you know that saying "curiosity killed the cat"......
As for a few sprinkles of water, that's assaulting a police officer...no matter what the liquid is.......

The dude did it out of being irritated with the crowd and did not behave as a leader should be, in control of a situation.

He'll be looking for a new job soon. Making a mistake and arresting the wrong person is one thing, popping her in the face for no reason will cost him. Looks like he was a supervisor too. Probably making $150K a year.
She will have a great lawsuit against him personally and the department, especially if he lied on the arrest report by saying that he saw her throw the water.

see, this is why you can never trust eyewitnesses....here's someone, totally unfamiliar with the case, already jumping to conclusions as to what the officer will, or won't put in his report....and this is the internet: one person will say something and then 100 people will swear to it and next thing you know, they're screaming "it's the truth"....
Also, Anto, the cop didn't jump on the first person he saw with a water bottle, he saw a person, with a water bottle, walking quickly away from him, and I bet he caught her actions out of the corner of his eye or one of the officers saw her....
You have to admit, if the camera was a little tighter and we didn't see the person on the sidewalk to the left of the scene throw the water, the way she walked up quickly, turned, and rushed away, it would look like she was the one who did something.....
Once again, as with most of these incidents, you want to avoid trouble with the police? Stay away from them when they're trying to do their job.......
When will people realize that fucking around with the police is like trying to take a bone away from an angry pitbull.........

We have the right to walk the streets and we have the right to not expect to be accosted and assaulted by the Police. She was innocent and did absolutely nothing wrong based on the video. If at an earlier point and time she mouthed off to the Police that still does not excuse this officer from wrongfully assaulting her.
Based on the video there is nothing she could have done to avoid what happened. She walked up, seen what was happening and decided too walk away and boom, she leaves in handcuffs with a bloody lip! NO, this should not and is not acceptable in North America maybe North Korea or Iran but not here.
