I am homeless, please help.

I drive a lot for a living and this is the very first time I see a homeless person walking with /help me I am homeless/ cardboard sign at ramps I exit. If in the mood or had coins in my pocket I would give it to them but it's getting annoying. Now I don't have any eye contact with them but my neck is getting sore from turning to my side so many times.

Is this a good enough reason to vote conservative on the next election?.

Most of the homeless are in that situation for a reason. Unfortunately, a vast majority are supporting drug or alcohol habits and the money given, go straight to that addiction. I simply say no when they come up to my window. The off ramp on to Spadina underneath the Gardiner is a gathering place in the summer months. I hate it.

I would and have given food instead. If I've been walking along the street, I'll pick up an extra combo or something and hand it to someone who looks like they need that more than money. When I smoked, I've given my partial pack.

I just can't give money after volunteering and seeing where money goes first hand.

I give to the ones with dogs......and the cycle continues....since some know there are those of us who give because they have a dog..... The panhandlers are everywhere in Halifax. I feel terrible for most of them, and hope that most aren't homeless. I've given lots and still will give to a few, helping anyone in need, is never wrong. It is hard to tell who is in need and who is hustling. How you vote, even though I know you were being sarcastic, lol, won't change homelessness, imo.

There are jobs out there like dishwashers and higher paid jobs in construction hard labor. But most refuse to work. Just my 2 cents.

These people don't cause problems, they aren't major consumers and leave a smaller footprint on the environment than everyone who drives by them.
I won't judge when they are hungry or need a drink to get by in life.

Dude, a lot of them rather buy cigarettes than food. It's the nicotine addiction plus a coping mechanism. The second is alcohol followed closely by drugs. I'm not saying all of the street people are like this, but a vast majority are.

I still remember the Sun article exposing the '' Shaky Lady'' Who used to beg in downtown Toronto. She was a immigrant Gypsy from Czechoslovakia who was being picked up in a car by her son after her "shift" and living in an apartment in the city. No more hand outs from me.........

I still see a few of them but it wasn't as bad as a few years ago. They were everywhere.
