Kyra...
cayaking or canoeing ? Are you going to follow one of Ontarios mapped out canoe routes?
When it comes to beer, buy cans.. first of all they don't break and secondly the empties can be crushed and take up less room than bottles.
Have you decided what to buy yet?.
Does that affect what tent I should buy?
yes ... Kayaking means something more compact as it can be stored in one of the water proof compartments, lighter too as portaging in a kayak could be done without emptying out the boat which means a lot less work at each portage. I don't know about you but I would sacrifice extra space in the tent it it meant leas manual labour while trekking.
Seems you are not taking beer... look at a camel back water carrier
As for the Ontario canoe routes...... Hikers Haven in Oakville will have maps you can buy that will help you plan your trip. I recommend three rock chute as a camping spot on the Musquash river. There are camping spots on both the high side and the low side of the waterfall and you can swim in the rapids. Also good is Macrae lake.
A note about Hikers Haven, they will have all the tents as well but I don't think you will get any deals there. Another store worth looking at is SAIL .. they are new and trying to take a run at Mountain co-op. They have had some good sales lately.
Good Luck with your trip
