Made with Love

This is why American home owners will never give up their guns.

The big push from Obama and pundits like Piers Morgan is to ban assault rifles and magazines that allow a killer to carry a shit load of ammo. I have not once heard anyone in the US claimed to take peoples regular fire arms away or not be able to defend their homes and loved ones.

The problem in Canada is as CG illustrated, our laws go to far in condemning the innocent victim. The police automatically lay charges if one defends himself and sure the courts usually are smart enough to do the right thing but at the cost of bankrupting the victim financially.

sorry MM you just has to look to drugs to see that criminals are not following them

you meddle in US gun laws then post one from Canada

Smell the coffee yet?

I think tboy's post is in reference to Canadian home defense laws that were modified recently. This is in reference to the story CG posted about the Canadian home owner being charged after firing warning shots to scare invaders.

No one here is advocating criminals rights to have firearms.
If someone is caught in illegal possession of drugs, they will be arrested and brought into the system.
Likewise, if there are laws on the books prohibiting the possession of certain types of firearms and someone is caught in possession of such a weapon, without proper licensing or without a permit, they should be subject to the same treatment.

agreed

so the 420 people here should be banned???

I don't follow. Are you talking about marijuana users on the board? If they are caught in possession they will subject to the law.
I said nothing about banning anyone.

you are right that was an off the wall question.

as you said there are laws on the book that the courts do not enforce.

No, that is not what I said.

I see now

which would the the first guns you would ban?

Keeping in mind that assault riffles have been recently used in the media feeding attacks
and hand guns tend to favor robberies and assaults.

I'm the one that insinuated that the courts do not punish those who use firearms to commit a criminal offense harshly enough.

and I am in 1000% agreement with you

No, I don't think you are seeing very much.

I said nothing about banning any types of guns.

what tends to be overlooked is using or having a firearm during the commission of a crime is illegal and banned already.

as I said in the past I am a huge fan of enforcing the laws

I'm not fan of too many laws as I believe the more laws we have, the more corrupt the state is. What we need is the current laws being cleaned up and enforced properly.

I believe that there should be consistent laws governing the sale and ownership of firearms across all states.
I believe there should be strict permits required prior to the sale of firearms.
I believe there should be mandatory weapons training courses upon the receiving of purchased firearm.
I believe there should be levels of qualifications to achieve to own different genres of firearms...handguns, rifles, etc...

The Second Amendment does not automatically ensure you are responsible and qualified to own a firearm.

This has nothing to do with enabling criminals or stopping them from gaining firearms. It does not ban or prevent legal citizens from owning a firearm.

I also believe that the loophole allowing the legal sale of firearms (in many states) by private citizens should be closed.
